Lloyds TSB and proof of ID

Lloyds TSB have told me I cannot withdraw my money over the counter without a Passport, photocard driving licence or a forces ID card. I have none of these items!! We are currently having some building work done and need to get larger than normal amounts out to pay the builders, otherwise I'd just use the cashpoint. Is this now common practise or are Lloyds being exceptionally picky? I've never come up against this before when dealing with the bank.

its nice to know my bank is not going to hand out all my hard earned
cash without valid id:D0 -
They gave me my cash with just a bank card and a signiture. Only £200 (only!), but had forgotton my pin. V. embarrasing. I would try a diff branch, but if its lots and lots, then fair enough, I would aks for photo id. At the end of theday, if they give your cash to the wrong person, then they would have to pay.0

Are you going into your normal branch - are you known there? How much were you trying to withdraw?
If you are going to a strange branch wanting a large amount of cash then they are within their rights to ask for ID.Whether it has to be photo ID is a good question - do you have for instance an old style driving licence?0 -
Does anyone know if an expired UK passport is acceptable as photo ID for banking purposes. My mum needs to change her bank account details and, like original poster, does not have any other photo ID.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -

so how much money are you talking about having to take out over the counter? will your builder not take a cheque from you?
if you dont hold a passport, new style driving licence (with the other bit) or a id card forces/police/nhs do you recieve benefits? do they get paid to your account then take your benefits advice letters in along with a utility bill.Ms_Chocaholic wrote:Does anyone know if an expired UK passport is acceptable as photo ID for banking purposes. The max was £3,000. No to the cheque as it's a cash job. Yes I do have benefits paid into our account but they they said only take the 3 forms of ID mentioned. I have plenty of other things to prove my ID that I've used in the past so I don't get why just these 3 now.0 -

There are only 2 branches local to us but I wouldn't say I use them enough to be recognised. I accept they want ID and have no problem with that, but why such a narrow range?0 -
I think you should telephone to make an appointment with the Manager (or your account Manager) and explain the problem to him. If you tell him that, for a short amount of time, you will need fairly large amounts of cash and why, he will probably be able to work around these rules.0

your other items will still be valid for withdrawals, sounds like the cashier was just being ultra cautious. next time your in if the cashier says the same make sure they get there supervisor over and they can agree the withdrawal.Compo challange:Amount won £0 Need to win £2400
