If you've got any Tesco Clubcard vouchers you can exchange them for travel vouchers for x3 their value and use them on Stena Line or Irish Ferries.
It used to be x4 their value but that changed last year.
Which route were you thinking of going on?

Unless you live in Fishguard and are going to a reunion in Rosslare what's your problem with flying?
Stena Line want £52 quid on this route (for my random date) for a foot passenger (return)
Ryanair wanted £38 (London-Dublin for example) on same dates - return inc taxes & charges.

Leave a big bowl or water, a dirt tray and a pile of munchies then fly, save
    a fortune :)

Ireland is a great place to take the dogs, don't leave them at home! AFerry.co.uk has 10% off ferries from Swansea to Cork at the moment, could be worth checking out.

You know a lot about ferries, do you know what the stena supplement is all about? It's for £45. I've paid it and all, but wondered what it was. I am not travelling on a Saturday (tried to google and got nowhere, and found some strange sites that was a bit weird lol)

I'm sorry, I wish I could help you with that but I don't know. I guess it could be anything from fuel supplements to insurance.

No worries :) Just thought it was worth an ask :) I am leaning towards fuel supplements I suppose. It's costing more than my daytrip to France just for the supplement lol

The most expensive times to use the ferries are Christmas, Easter & Summer. Fuel is expensive and I would guess that that is the reason for the surcharge, you are also taking animals and that costs as well. I'm also going to Ireland soon and would usually take my car but the ferry price is just not competetive enough.
