Mattress topper that allows returns?

Dunelm have display toppers which you can sit or lie on in the shop.. that isn't what you asked though. I am sure your local independant bed shops would too.. that is far from taking something home, trying it for a few days and returning it.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

just think of all the dead skin, and sweat and bedbugs (no bed in the land doesn't have bed bugs of some description) but it's ok it's under a sheet... my god what planet are you on.
Besides that, my mattress is hard, and plays havoc with me and my M.S. i bought a cheap memory topper for about £40, only 2 inches thick but has helped me loads where the duvet under the body trick didn't work.
My mum advised me to get one at least 4 to 5 inches thick, but at the time i could not find one at the price i could afford.
But the one i have now does help lots0 -
QVC, genuine no quibble 30 day money back guarantee. No I don't work for them but have bought the odd thing!
QVC give you a 30 day money back guarentee as stated above. It is the only place where you are going to be able to buy a matress topper and try it then return it if you are not happy.
It was good advice.:rotfl: l love this site!! :rotfl:0 -
I would happily lie on a topper in a shop and have actually slept on memory foam before, but the problem is that the bed underneath won't be anywhere near as hard as this one. My boyfriend bought a mattress which is 9/10 on the hardness scale so unless the example bed is that hard, it's not going to tell me much about whether the topper will actually improve it; I don't know whether an inch or two inches of foam is enough to let me sleep properly again.
What planet am I on? Well, my hosts didn't burn the memory foam topper I slept on in their guest bed. I guess that was foolish of them. And there was the time I slept for a year in a uni bed with communal linens and nothing happened.
I'll have a look at QVC, thanks!0 -
you get the thickest you can afford.. surely the thicker the better if the mattress is that bad for you. It actually took about a month for me to notice any difference at all in pain levels when I got mine. I have arthritis in my hips and knees which is awful with an unfamiliar bed.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

For starters the human body sweats almost half a pint of moisture a night!
Very very few companies will accept either a mattress or a topper back, those that do will have they own arrangements for getting rid of them. They would NEVER sell them on as brand new, most likely they would be sold at auction 2nd hand.
Distance selling regs are a grey area on these things as well, also most memory foam will come vacuum packed. Normal shops T+C's will state must be in original packing, which is impossible for a vac pac.
Do not go for a mattress topper any more then 2 or 3 inches as you will be engulfed by foam and sweat like a pig in a sauna! Memory foam will mould around your body to the extant that you lying IN the mattress. So being surrounded by loads of non breathable foam is not pleasant.
I would suggest a new pocket sprung mattress 1000 springs or more, which should cost around £200-£300. Bear in mind cheap memory foam toppers are exactly that, cheap. Toppers can go up to £400-£600 pounds as memory foam comes in different grades, then they add special material to help try and keep you cool like Coolmax and Outlast.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
I've had some experience in trying to find the right bedding, and there are certainly places you can try at home before you buy.
I've tried toppers from these places with full use allowed before full refund: http://www.personalcooling.co.uk, http://www.welovesleep.co.uk and http://www.zonesleep.co.uk.
For mattresses, you can also send back for full return from: http://www.themattressemporium.com/
What they do with them afterwards, I don't know. In store use/exhibitions/etc?
I myself wouldn't be worried about the hygiene factor (receiving an unknown 'used' one), as someone said, you stay in hotels all the time, and god knows how many people have slept on them!0 -
Not sure if this will apply to mattress toppers as well, but might help if you decide on new mattress, and check about toppers too.......I insisted on a new mattress earlier this year as DH's old one was horrendous, stained, old, lumpy and hard. Yum. We did alot of trying in store, and settled on one from Dreams. I seem to recall that they did have a sleep satisfaction promise where you could return the mattress after something like 30 days. The condition on it was, that you could only return it, if you then bought another one instead, which HAD to be more expensive than the original purchase.
