PAC code, timing it right...
hi,
I've got exaclty 31 days left on my Orange contract, and want to change to another network (T-Mobile; yes, I know they're one and the same).
However the guy at Orange indicated that if I was to use my PAC before the 31days, i'd incur some kinda charge for early cancellation & if I leave it til after, then I won't have the charge, but I'd have to pay Orange another full month...?
Surely this ain't right?

This is right. If you don't use the PAC within 30 days your contract will not be cancelled. I'd use it 5-7 days before the deadline.

What is the early termination charge though? surely it's just the remainder of the contract... which I'm more than happy to pay as I'm gonna be paying it up either way.0

The remainder of the contract is just the minimum term, contracts don't end at that point they just switch to a 30 rolling contract.
You have to give 30 days notice to end the contract, requesting and using your pac doesn't void that. They'll still charge you for 30 days notice.0 -
cool, just so I'm clear on this; if I request the PAC today (with 30 days left on my contract), and immediately use it to switch to T-Mobile, my orange contract will be cancelled when the phone switches over and they'll just charge me for the remaining days that would've been left (that being 30)?0

If you request PAC today you have to use it at any day within the next 30 days.
Regardless of when you use it you will be charged for 31 days starting from today.
If you give a notice and request a PAC, say, in a week, you will be charged for 30 days starting from that day and will have the same 30 days to use the PAC.0
