USwitch incorrect calculations for Scottish Power

Anyone looking to switch through USwitch - I am convinced they have the incorrect calculations for Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 14, and for Capped NSC (online or not online) Jun 2013 (VersionB). All of which are very near the top of the best buys.
They are showing the higher gas price band as only for the first 1750kw per year. In fact the higher price applies to the first 2680kw per year. This makes a difference of about £35 - £45 extra on the calculations, often putting them incorrectly as the cheapest. Simply Switch and Money Supermarket have the correct calculations.

(Or have I gone completely batty, if so.....it's my medication!)

Hi bye bye band G:)
We make very sure the site is constantly updated with all the correct information for every tariff. Could I ask for your postcode so that I can double check exactly what you were seeing?
Thanks!

yes uswitch is also missing the EDF OS7 price change taking effect from july 14th
• Hi Lauren.
My postcode is WV6 8DW.

As a more minor point USwitch also has completely the wrong prices on my current tariff, EDF Online S@ver 6, no longer on sale but used in the 'this is your current price' bit.

(Sorry, Bye Bye, may I quickly hijack the uSwitch rep and tell them to please PUT THE CURRENT TARIFF PRICES back in their quotes - it is impossible for people to double-check you are using the correct figures when these are not presented.)
• Halloween Jack - they always show today's prices so won't show your new price till July 14th.

Kim - on the right side it says Current Annual Bill £xxxx then Price Breakdown. Click that, is that what you want?

I definitely spend too much time on these price comparison websites!!

Summat weird going on! Default to British Gas and Scottish Power - you get a summary box on the left with a clickable link for a breakdown of your current prices. The box on the right is just some Consumer Credit accreditation blurb.

But choose Scottish Power for both gas and electricity - left box only includes the tier 2 prices - no information about tier 1/standing charges. And the right hand box contains the recommended new tariff.

Hi bye bye band G

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Sorry it’s taken a while to get back to you, we've been investigating further…

It turns out we did have an incorrect threshold for gas rates in the midlands region. This is now sorted. We’ve also been in touch with EDF to confirm - the rates for online saver 6 and 7 are now updated.

Kim - hi there, we're keen to get your problem sorted as well. So would it be possible to have your postcode and we can look into it? If you wouldn't mind you could pop it an email to editor@uswitch.com
Then I'll get on the case and get back to you as soon as possible.

Hope that has helped. Once again, thanks all for flagging up these issues.

Uswitch doesn't seem very reliable at keeping accuracy with tariff pricing. Just checked to see my BG Websaver 10 prices and they are way off on its pricing for DN123LT

Uswitch shows Electricity unit rates: 23.885p per kWh 11.063p per kWh above 720 kWh p.a for the websaver 10 tariff Inc VAT.

The real tariff for my region at this current time for electric is 20.972p per kWh 8.4693p per kWh above 720 kWh p.a Inc VAT which is a huge difference.

My advice is double check with your bill to make sure the tarriff is showing the correct prices on any website of this nature so you know the savings it's showing are correct. This error could make you switch to a more expensive tariff which totally defeats the purpose of the site... I'd check to see if the pricing on the supplier you are switching to is accurate too!

Hi Engy,

The rates you're seeing for your tariff are what the rates will go up to after the price rise comes into force in August.

This is because we have to compare against what you would be paying if you were to stay on your current tariff for the next 12 months, rather than what you paid for the previous 12 months.

We don't currently have the ability to display both pre and post-price rise rates on the site, but it's something we're looking into.

(I'm replying to KimYeovil's point at the same time here too, hope you don't mind!)

Hope this helps.

Hello,

I see it is also wrong For Scottish Power Energy Saver 8. Not sure if your site has the correct label - I am being billed as "Scottish Power Energy Saver 8 (Extended December 2011)". Perhaps this is slightly different to just "Scottish Power energy Saver 8". Anyway on my bill it is definitely slightly cheaper than the rates you quote - so would be nice if your website is updated so I can get correct price comparisons

e.g. uswitch quotes 7.71p per kWh 3.513p per kWh above 2680 kWh p.a, but my bill says 7.343 for gas per kwh for primary units.

Thanks,

Mark
