Heading to Rome in September...ROP

When's the best time to book the hotel?

I'm not sure whether to risk it and book it nearer the time or just book it ASAP

Anyone had any ideas/thoughts? Flights are getting booked tomorrow

The sooner you start looking the more choice you will have.Leave it later, the best places will have gone. How long are you going for? which days?

Going on the 21st -28th September, I've had a look and there's this place...which seems pretty nice...

    http://www.hotels.com/hotel/details.html?reviewOrder=date_newest_first&asaReport=Hotel+Details%3A%3ANoSuggest&roomno=1&departureDate=01-10-2011&destinationId=1644608&rooms[0].numberOfAdults=2&tab=description&arrivalDate=26-09-2011&hotelId=269341&validate=false&destination=Rome+%28and+vicinity%29%2C+Italy#guest_rooms

What do you think? Should I wait it out a bit or just book it ASAP? I had a look for the price of that hotel in July for a week and it's only £360, and its £550 for September, so thats why im thinking I should risk it

You also need to remember Rome traffic can be very bad.You may spend a fair bit of time travelling into the centre. It gets good ratings though.Have you looked at the area around the station,"termini" ,it houses some cheaper hotels.

That is a fair way out of the Centro Storico, if you're planning to do much sight seeing in central Rome, you're going to have to do some travelling. Use the ATAC site to plan your buses :

    http://www.atac.roma.it/

    There's an English option.

I've done a search here to get you from the hotel's address to the Vatican, although I don't know whether the link will take you to the actual search or you'll have to do it yourself.

Rome is expensive all year round, July/August (esp. August) you may get some cheaper rooms as that's when the Italians go on holiday, but you're probably not going to see much change in your figures by waiting unless you do really last minute.
It only takes one tree to make a thousand matches, it only takes one match to burn a thousand trees. As well, the cars are all passing me, bright lights are flashing me.

Why did he think "systolic" ?

As long as you avoid the pickpockets and other assorted lowlife that congregate round there.

Like most railway termini I hasten to add, not just specific to Roma Termini.

Well...our plan is to rent a car (I know traffic in Rome is bad so we're not 100% sure about driving into central rome yet) But we want to visit some cute villages etc around the city and the beach and stuff? We'd rather not stay in the centre of Rome if we can help it.

Its one of the places in Rome I have stayed, and it was absolutely fine

OP,I hope to be contradicted here, but Rome drivers are nutters!Don't do it.Also check out your insurance costs first, and seriosly think about collision damage waver.Do you have a total budget for this hol?
