Post Office Broadband - off for two weeks

Options
Hi,

Very summarised version of events - Internet connection has been off since 27th May, new router/modem issued by post office (to wrong house and 5 days late), spending up to 45 minutes on hold for technical department, reset, still not working two weeks later. Post Office say the line is working fine and we used it yesterday (although we were out at a wedding all day), neighbours internet now off too. Engineer has checked the line, said it is fine.
We have been told to leave our router/modem on all the time as switching it off loses connection and resets passwords etc (even though it hasn't previously).
At a loss as to what it could be - computer only a year old. Any help would be much appreciated!

Don't switch it off, each time you switch on again it will have to resynch and that will slow your connection down,
However, if the next door property is also out, that indicates a more general line fault in the area.
Have you tested from the master socket? Can you make and receive calls normally?

    Hi there,

We wiped the computer, started again and this seems to have done the trick. We've also left the modem/router switched on so hopefully this will solve the problems!

Wiped the PC?! Rather a drastic solution to an internet problem?

Sounds like the router itself was fine, but the network stack/properties on the PC had got changed/corrupted somehow.
