Surprise Holiday

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to get a bit of advice (see if you guys can think of things that I haven't)

My fianc!e is turning the big 3-0 in a month and I want to surprise him by booking a weeks holiday away.

We've both been so busy with jobs, planning wedding, me with uni stuff that since we got engaged 6 months ago it just feels like it's been a big blur. I though a few days away would be great for the both of us, especially as he never allows himself to relax.

My issue is therefore, where do I book to go? He's never done the beach thing before and know he'd find that by itself quite boring so I've been looking at nice all inclusive hotels that have tennis courts, gyms etc for activities to break up the day. I was initially looking at a hotel in Taba Heights in Egypt, it was 5 star all inclusive and was £420 for the week but now it's gone up to £620 which I wouldn't want to pay on principle. (thomson website) It was called Sofitel Taba Heights. The area looked great because, from there you could do a trip to Jerusalem or Jordan for the day which I know he'd love.

I've also looked at going to Dubai for 5 days but that turned out at £500+ each with no food which isn't bad but with saving for a wedding would prefer if the total cost of the whole holiday with food, any excursions etc came to under £1500. (expedia)

The final deal I found was on the Thomson website again and that was going to a 5 star ultimate all inclusive place in Turkey called the Crystal Hotel and Spa in Antalaya. It was about £630 each but it's a new hotel and had no reviews which made me a bit nervous.

Dates of Travel - Preferably 11th July (or late on the 10th as his bday is the 9th and having a big party)

Duration - 5 days (for dubai type places) - 1 week (for package holidays)

Airports - Best is East Mids as we're only about 20 mins from there but Bham, Doncaster, Manchester, or any London airport would be fine if there's a great deal.

Place - Open to suggestions , although not a Balearic or canary because I know he'd find it boring and too 'brits abroad'.

Budget - Preferably around £500-600 each for all inclusive at a 4-5 star place. As long as I can keep the overall trip to under £1500 incl spending money that'd be great.

Other Question - Is it better if I wait until the week before to book or book now???

I know it's a lot to ask but if you have any suggestions at all they would be gratefully received. I feel like I'm going round and round in circles at the mo!

Cheers

    direct holidays

are part of Thomas Cook, not TUI.

TUI has got rid of Portland Holidays direct and eclipse direct as brands.

Strangely enough I had looked at that one.

Would be nice to introduce him to all inclusive as he's never done it, as long as the food's decent he'd be in heaven.

    Thanks so much
