As for the comment about the pasta?! I don't think the person who posted the message about the prices was trying to say they expected it to be 9p forever their point was that tesco's have upped the price considerably in such a short time as with alot of their own branded products, yes it's still cheaper than other branded products but when they up prices to only have a 20-30p difference between their price and a top brand price i would rather actually buy the better brand ok i won't be saving money but i would feel better snubbing tescos price increase...

Sorry for the rant just i can see where the original poster was coming from

Yes they have, but I don't understand why it's just Tesco's that are being singled out. I shop around a lot...well at least with Tesco's, Sainsbury's & Morrisons...no lidl, Aldi etc and find in general prices are pretty similar. Yes, the pasta has gone up, along with butter, flour etc...but it's the same in every store, pasta up to 18p, butter up to £1.10 etc seem to be standard prices.

Omvg - how can they justify a price increase, literally overnight, of 51p??
Marmite was £4.48 now its £4.99
I know its a love or hate thing but I LOVE it and will have to sell a kidney now to feed my marmite habit lol
My food shopping is going up and up and up - BOO

What strikes me about all these posts is that people are hooked on their own favourite brand of food, and it's tears and tantrums when the price goes up. The supermarkets know where they have got you, by the short and curlies, you stubbornly refuse to change your eating habits.

Take a more flexible approach, cherry pick the best buys, only eat what is cheap, and play one off against the other. You will not die if you can't have marmite, or pringles, or wash your hands with radox handwash. Use your imagination and look for cheaper alternatives which are just as good, and don't stick rigidly to your shopping list.

Price increases pea me off as well, but it just makes me even more determined to beat the beggars. They will not trick the money out of my purse.

Just came back from Tesco and the following have increased:
Value Tuna Flakes from 39p to 49p
Value Peanut Butter from 67p to 79p

The eggs have dropped from £1.48 to £1.25 for 15, I bought 2 boxes in case it goes up next week. As on 1 June it was £1.25, then on 4 June £1.48.

Can't remember the exact figures but in the last week or so the following have gone up:

    Tesco Value Pasta
    All cat tinned food
    Washing liquid
    Cooking Oil
    Sachet Powder Sauce mix

And it wasn't just by a few pence, some bits are more than 20p dearer.
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

As petrol and other fuel prices rices, you will see more food prices rising. YOu just have to shop around and get the best deals. Or go without it and choose to eat something else instead.

In one corner you have everyone complaining about prices going up, in another corner you have people moaning that farmers do not get paid enough, that people want higher wages, how it is best to buy british etc.... all of these come at a price. We cannot have it all ways.

I think that this time next year that prices are going to be even higher, however we will shop around and get the best deals. The best thing I would say is to stock up and bulk buy when stuff is on offer and shop that way, you'll only need to buy once a month then. I;ve currently got enough cereal and pasta to last 2 months as I got it when it was cheap, this month I'll but other stuff that is on offer.

Still shows as 18p online - but just out of interest what do you consider an acceptable price ? Do you genuinely think that 18p is an ethically acceptable price that allows all in the supply chain to maintain a business and job security. Amazes me sometimes how we're happy to challenge low wages/foreign workers etc and yet not pay a fair price for a product.

    Rant over
But the diffrence in price isnt going to the workers. If it was i personally wouldnt feel so bad..but it dosnt, tesco gets it

I have also noticed how their special offers don't seem to add up to give us the best deals.
Their 4pt milk just a month or so back was 2 for £2.00 or 1 for £1.25 then it went up to 3 for £3.00 still 1 for £1.25 now though its £1.49 or thereabouts i think its ridiculous i mean you can pop into most corner shops or at least we can in oxford or even iceland and pick one up for £1...
Pringles for instance im a huge fan of binge eating pringles :o just a few months back they were 99p a tub which seems to be everywhere still at the moment then the following week i thought perfect can get some more while im doing a shop and they were £1.99 each WHAT!!! And then (sorry to go on but i do love my pringles) the next week they were £1.99 bogof now i don't really see the point in that when i could have gotten 2 for £1.98 two weeks before.
Food in my opinion has risen so much in the past month or so alone, But i have now become a couponer so im saving money at least on laundry/cleaning and toiletries which are the things that in my opinion add up to me.
