Car Servicing Rip Off ?
Comments

Our Hyundai main dealer charges £80 per hour labour.
This is apposite because my two year old Hyundai is booked in for it's annual service next week and I've been quoted just shy of £300. I have to have it serviced to keep the five year warranty but I think it sounds well expensive especially as the car has only done 8500 miles.
I'd be questioning the £5 nut too."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
I would question the 'head gasket' or do they/you mean 'rocker cover gasket'I

they might be the nyloc lcoking type and at retail they will charge that sort of money
it would also help if we knew exactly what car it wasI

If it's a Japanese diesel then it's highly likely that the cam cover gasket may have been removed to check and adjust valve clearances. The man without a signature.0

Right - it is a Suzuki Swift
I have received a reply from the dealers - apparently - despite the code being correct - they "meant" the rocker cover gasket
And the nuts were from "holding on the rear brake and drum assemblies" - both of which are replaced under the service0 -

then the price seems about right
re the nuts, as they are part of the 'braking' system I would assume that they are a 'use once' item hence the priceI

If it helps I had my Jimny serviced (less miles than yours but still 2nd service) last week and the cost was £299. Rocker cover gasket on mine too.
Bet we go to the same place lol!0 -
