NTL idiots!

Last June i switched from NTL dial up to NTL Broadband, I cancelled my dial up direct debit and they started taking money from another DD set up for BB. Today I receive a letter saying I owe them £76 for dial up unpaid since June and if I don't pay within 7 days they will take further action.
I have spoken to a manager on the phone and he said the dial up wasn't cancelled (even though the person on the phone in India told me he had cancelled it the day BB was installed). He also said as i am such a good customer I can just pay £38! What idiots they are, why would I upgrade to BB and still keep paying for dial up, they should be able to check I have never used the dial up for 6 months.
Does anyone know of a number apart from customer services or a senior person i can ring please?

In my experience i spent 6 months making call after call telling them i did not have any NTL service any longer, but they still kept sending the bill and even included extra charges for being unable to collect from my now cancelled direct debit. In the end i wrote to their head office in Peterborough and within 2 weeks received a full apology and of course a cancellation of the said owed bills.
So if if i was you i would just write to them and send photocopies of any signed confirmation of cancellation..0 -
My sympathies, I found NTL charging me for a seperate account that i didnt have, or set up, and it took me ages to get my money back from them, and just recently, my bill came stating I was being charged for set top box broadband, even though I am paying for Modem broadband. they are a nightmare, and as you know, its always "ring this number, or that number" In the 5 yrs Ive been with NTL, I have never once spoken to the same person twice....have you?:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Thanks for the replies, marleyboy, you are right, I phoned yesterday and was passed from pillar to post, no one seemed to know what they were talking about. At first they said I owed £76, another person said it was £44, then another bright spark said my account number was not actually mine and they wouldn't discuss another persons account with me
and then they decided to hang up on me.
Today i rang again, after 90 minutes on the phone, they have told me that its all cleared up and I now owe them nothing, I hope they are right :rotfl:
I am going to write to the head office though and make a complaint.0
