I did a lot of my Xmas shopping on line. Both Boots and M&S had 3 for 2 deals. When you buy multiples of 3 gifts, Boots give the cheapest 3 free whereas M&S knocked off 1/3 of the cost of each of them.
So if you bought 3 gifts at £15, £9 and £6, in Boots you would be charged a total of £24 (15+9 saving 6). At M&S the cost would be £20 (10+6+4 saving 10)0 -
I'm sure that at boots, they automatically calculate the best discount for you.0

hmmm, a pub we sometimes go to has buy 2 meals, get the chapest one free.
We always end up insiting to put them through in seperate lots of 2 to avoid this.. it hacks the staff off though!
But it can make a big difference if 4 or 6 of you are eating together, some of the main meals start at about £6 but go up to about £12 so we always pay for them in pairs (put the ones of similar price together). This way, the saving can be almost half of your total bill.0 -

That's definitely true, whenever I've bought several 3 for 2's in one shop, they've always grouped them together to save me the most money rather than rip me off. I've no experience in other shops though, if in doubt I buy them in groups of three as suggested to make sure.Mortgage to clear asap! - [STRIKE]£148,874.38 [/STRIKE]as at 1 May 2013£79,176.55 May 2018£59,516.06 July 2019November 2020 £35,914.620 -
was just talking to my mother about this, she was saying that she always puts things through seperately and gave another example as if u have 3 at £9, 3 at £7, and 3 at £3 some systems used to give you the 3 itmes at £3 free regardless of order whilst putting them all throyugh seperately would give you one at 9, one at 7 and one at 3 for freeBought, not Brought0

It's different in different shops- I have noticed that a couple including Boots have upgraded their tills to calculate a fair saving for you.
By the way- BEWARE of batteries and other bits by the till- they are often included in the 3 for 2 and so can throw your calculations right out if you've put one in your basket!!0
