Paypal & Ebay Addresses different

I've sold an electrical item on Ebay, value circa £200 and have received immediate payment via Paypal, yippee!

However, the Paypal account belongs to a male person in "X" town and the Ebay account belongs to a female at a different address, but also in "X" town, different surnames.

Is this normal? I thought Ebay and Paypal accounts had to be linked, or can you pay with someone else's Paypal account?

The Ebay account was only opened in April 2011 with 3 purchases. Although 1 purchase was a very large item that was collected in person and received very positive feedback.

What are your thoughts?

You can post to either and you'll be covered. I would contact the buyer.

Otherwise if you here nout I would post to the paypal confirmed address which will will cover for chargebacks etc.

Only the paypal address is the one that covers a seller against any form of chargeback. The ebay one is immaterial , always use the paypal one as long as it says 'OK to send'.

Brilliant - many thanks for your help, it's put my mind at rest.

I thought I was quite experienced on Ebay, but there are still plenty of things to learn.

I never use the paypal one - just the Ebay one in MyEbay. Don't think i've ever checked a paypal address when posting.

Some buyers have a different postal address set up in Ebay, for when they are at work or away - thats what the option is for. My friend gets all his ebay stuff sent to my house - cos he's never home (he's added my address to his ebay account). But he uses his own paypal account.

Another one is where someone on ebay checks out with a ' friends' paypal details to pay - when it goes to checkout.

Soolin may be right about protection though, but can't see why. You never know with ebay/paypal though - until its too late.

Checking out with someone elses paypal is the one to watch i suppose - which is what it sounds like in this case - as the names don't match.

You might want to check with the buyer though.

Paypal is a pain in the ARS* i hate the way they have to varify your card !!!!

I had one where the eBay winner was a male but Paypal said to post to a female at the same address. I guess it was his eBay account and her PayPal they had linked.
Probably something similar here. I would check with them before sending though, it could be that they have moved and have forgotten to update the details on one of the accounts.

Soolin is correct. It's the Paypal account address or no protection.

But, as the item is over £150 you need to send it via an online trackable means, within 7 days of payment, to the address in Paypal (it must say eligible/ok to send) and you must keep your cop for 180 days. This is the only way to keep your money in the event of a chargeback or fraud.

My eBay address is my parents address, my paypal is my actual address. I pay with paypal which tells the seller where I live and where I want my item sent to. Any item which ended up 50 miles away in my opinion would be 'not received' as I would not be paying postage for it to get to me or waiting weeks or months to get my mits on it. Do you think I am being unreasonable? It's not happened, just a thought which occurred to me whilst reading this:)
