Why be angry at scottish power raising energy prices??

Anger??.. these companies seem to take no risk whatsoever, at the first sniff of a wholesale price rise this is passed on to the customer. I'd have greater respect for SP (and the rest) if just once, one of them would demonstrate some efficiencies, initiative and a bit more of a hard line in the wholesale purchase of fuels. We all know they don't have to, as it's really a skewed market with little competition, bordering on a cartel. We really do need many more suppliers to challenge the likes of the 'big 6'!0

I dont understand why there's alot of angry people out there when one company raise energy prices.... if you think about it, everything is being raised:
petrol
clothes
food
just to name a few....
we live in an economy where its not stable, we need to expect these sort of things to happen.
Its going to be a matter of time when: British Gas, EON, EDF, Npower and Southern Energy will raise your prices.
Just remember, if you want to use gas or electricity, pay for it... If you dont want to use it, then you wont need to pay for it - depending on your on a no standing charge option.
For all OAP and elderly, i totally agree, there should be Goverment intervention done to help BUT I very much doubt this will happen until there plenty of people wanting to freeze to death until action will be taken....
Not really sure what your point is, if you're here to 'enlighten' us, or if you have some sort of vested interest. Or if you're just a naive teenager.

when they were under government control they were also hopelessly inefficient (like most government controlled organisations..!)
It's not as simple as saying it is a legacy of Thatcher, countries all over the world have deregulated in utilities, comms, etc.
Hmmm. At least there would only be:
ONE organisation (6 at the moment)
ONE IT system (6 at the moment, and we know that BGs alone cost over half a billion pounds!)
ONE customer service team (6 at the moment)
ONE high earning CEO (currently 6 at the moment)
NO door knockers/paid liars (6 teams of these total pests at the moment)
NO sales teams (6 teams of these total pests at the moment)
NO profits finding their way out of the country.0 -
Alot of poeple look for cheap deals on the market at a time when energy prices are unpredictable. What most don't see is if you look at longer term then everyone should have at least capped or fixed their prices so to be honest i dont have any pity on anyone who didnt want to CAP or FIX their energy rate at a time energy prices are unstable!

Some would argue they should never have been sold off but thanks to Thatcher its no more, neither is much of the coal industry we had. Funny thing is we have hundreds of years of coal left, might be wise to start to use that. Most people dont give a toss about environment if it means warmth rather than being cold.
For old people they have had thee winter allowance cut. BTW the cold just doesn't effect the old. My wife and daughter have a condition where as they feel the cold.it normal for any company to make a profit, without profit theres no company meaning no staff meaning (in this case) no electricity or gas to provide.
but i do agree yes, unemployment is high, pay is mostly being frozen or cut, but at the end of the day everyone needs to wisen up and get over it.

When under government control, the gas and electricy compaines looked after there staff, did not put up prices because of out and out greed and Thatcher sold all this for seven pieces of silver. She ruined many lives many people and many firms because of wanton doctrine and greed.0
