Can someone who may have done this recently please let me know if I can buy a copy of NIS 2009 for £cheap and use its licence number to upgrade someone's installed NIS 2010 to NIS 2011?
Works with Kaspersky, and just need to check it also works with Norton.
Thanks!

If friends NIS 2010 is current then you can upgrade to 2011 now.
You will need their account details and its just a matter of doing a check for latest version, and following the prompts.

Not sure about being able to use a NIS 2009 code. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Yes you can update it.

Thanks Penrhyn, but renewing directly with the Norton website always seems to cost up to double what buying an olde version from Amazon does.
I will take dogmaryxx's word for it, since I (half!) remember doing the same at this time last year, and just needed confirmation.0 -
Yes you you can use any key from NIS 2006 onwards with NIS 2011If you are an existing customer with an active subscription to Norton Internet Security or Norton AntiVirus (2006 or newer), you can update to the latest version for FREE. To do this, simply go to http://updatecenter.norton.com and select Update Me Now.

Just buy NIS 2006 (which is pants) off ebay for a tenner and then upgrade to NIS 2011 (which is brilliant) free of charge:p

Hi, I know that you can validate norton with the key off a retail version however it used to be the case that if you bought a cheap OEM version the key digits were a different format and could not be used ??0

Nope they will work, mine 2009 oem works on 2011 (actually worked on another machine as well)0
-
Or you could just use any of the free AV's available.....Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0
-
Because the free AVs are more effective and less bloated than Norton?
Wakey Wakey! We are in the year 2011 not in 2006:rotfl:
Unlike previous versions, Norton 2011 is amongst the best performing AV not only for detection & removal of malware but also for being very light. Its as good as (if not better) than the likes of Avast, Avira, Kaspersky etc. Have a look at av-comparatives.org if you don't believe me.0
