I have my junk mail filter set to exclusive because I keep getting emails trying to sell stuff to me. It has filtered most of the rubbish but of course it also filters email from anyone that is not in my contacts list, so I do have to keep checking my junk box. I get quite a lot of junk mail advertising Viagra :rotfl:and although I now put each one into my blocked senders list, they just keep coming through a different email address. Its usually something like " yxz @ smw. net, or the next time it might be zyx @ wsm.net", so its difficult to actually stop them. Now, the emails usually have the title BUY VIAGRA and I was wondering if there is any way I can block anything that has VIAGRA in the title. I cant find a way to do it in hotmail, but I'm sure someone can tell me.

There isnt really that much you can do - but the phishing filter seems to work for me - Ive not had ads for viagra or any of that sort of thing for a few years now..one of the famous 5

Yes it can be done.
Select "Hotmail options"
then under "Customizing Hotmail"
click on "Rules for sorting new messages"
You then have multiple options; what you need is
STEP 1:-
[SUBJECT] [CONTAINS] [VIAGRA]
STEP 2:-
o Move to Junk
or
o Delete these messages
Hope that helps:money:

I thought it was just me that was getting those emails. I even changed my email address and I am still getting around 10 - 20 viagra & chemist emails a day. They all go to my junk folder then I just delete them from there, I don't want to open the email so can't block each one separately.. not that it would make much difference anyways as they are always sent from different email addresses. I wish there was a way to stop them all together. What I want to know is how are they getting my email address?!A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0

Thanks for that. I am going to try that now. I have deleted all my junk emails so will have to wait for more before I can apply filters to subjects other than 'viagra'.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -

They're just producing it from random spam address generators, or possibly because you have posted it online at some point-or your Hotmail account may have been hacked at some point. Have you changed the password recently?
They're not personally targetting you-each spam is sent to millions of addresses, most of which are not even valid. No free lunch, and no free laptop

When I set up my new email address I didn't get any junk emails until I started registering with websites. I noticed that they were also being sent to similar email addresses to mine too. What I thought is, are these spam emails coming from a certain website that I have registered with.
I first only registered my new email with ebay and paypal, but once I started changing my new email on my registered shopping accounts that's when I started getting a lot of junk. I do tick the boxes not to allow my email to be shared with third party and I've never posted my email address on any website. Even when I use to be registered on Facebook, I always kept my email address hidden so it wasn't shown on my profile.
My account has never been hacked and I do change my password often - It is also hard to guess.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
Then it's just probably just random spam-obviously the easier your hotmail address, the more likely you are to get it. john.smith@hotmail.com must get a lot!
A decent spam filter should catch more than 99%-Gmail certainly does.No free lunch, and no free laptop

All the spam goes straight to my Junk Folder but I would rather it just be blocked or instantly deleted. Hopefully the filters I've applied will delete them from now on.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0

Just set your filters to can it straight away then.
You can't block sending addresses for spam, because they're either spoofed or ever-changing.No free lunch, and no free laptop
