So are you fixing and how much of a premium are you prepared to pay?
I am currently with EDF on Online Saver V8. I switched late last year so would have to pay a penalty to switch to another supplier but can switch to another product.
If I switched to Fixed S@ver 2 Dual Fuel price would be fixed until 30 September 2012 but would be 15% more than currently paying but if I switched to Fixed Price 2014 Dual Fuel price would be fixed until 31st March 2014 but would be paying 20.6% more.
I am erring towards the 2014 one but would appreciate any thoughts?
Thanks.

On EON FOLv8 currently; EDF FIX til March 2014 comes out as good choice if there are 15% rises in currently best available variable tariff this year and next year.Looks even better if there is a further rise in late 2013!!0

I'm on FixOnline8 with eon.
I'm torn between EDF v2 (fixed till Sept '12) or EDF Fixed Saver 2014 (fixed till March '14).
The difference in payments for me over the course of next month to March 2014 would be approx £450 more on the 2014 fix as apposed to the September 2012 fix. I'm trying to work out whether this is worth the outlay.
To put it another way, v2 will cost me approx £114 a month and 2014 fix will cost be about £126 a month.
Opinions?
Anyone else gone for EDF's 2014 fix?0 -
Hi all, Please could someone help me? I am now on a dual fuel standard tariff with B Gas. I need to get a better deal. If you are in a debit balance on your Gas/elec bill, does this get transferred over to a new supplier if you switch suppliers or do you have to settle this with existing supplier first? I was looking to tfr to e-on. The quote says I would have to pay an extra £72.00 per year but this would be a fixed deal for 2 years. If I did nothing my cost would prob increase by £360.00 per year. Is this a good move? Any help greatly appreciated.
p.s. I have today just saved £444.50 per year on my Sky, phone and broadband!!!0 -

No you would have to settle with existing supplier but it would be post switch as they would need your final meter readings to work out what you owe.
If you do switch to EON remember to check the cashback websites to see if you can get cashback and/or the comparision websites.

I've switched to EDF Fixed 2014 today. I was on EON Fixonline8. Nothing compares to my current tariff, prices increase which ever tariff I choose.
For me EDF Fixed 2014 is 5% more than EON Fixed Price 5 (ends 01.07.13), it is also 15% more than EDF's Fixed Saver V2.
As EDF Fixed 2014 finishes in March 2014, it fixes the rates for the next two winters, whereas the other two tariffs only fix for one winter. I can also leave in the final year without paying an early termination fee.
Looking at the recent news, I'm happy with my switch.0 -

Thank you for this very useful info. For me, EDF's 2014 fix is 11% more than their V2. What I hadn't noticed was that it covers you for an extra two winters.
That's my decision made! EDF 2014 fix is the one I will go for. I will crack on with it today in case it is pulled.
Can I ask, did you use once of the switchover sites to get some cashback? If so, which one did you use? Simplyswitch offer the highest (£40) but it doesn't let you complete the switch online so the £40 can't be had. Next best appears to be beatthatquote at £35 for a dual fuel switch, or energylinx at £34.
Any thoughts, people?0 -

I assume that you mean 'switch to another product without penalty'? Have you checked that with EDF? The T&c's state that the ETC is charged if you leave the tariff early-not just if you leave the supplier. No free lunch, and no free laptop

If you look back 6 years on this forum on MSE the same debate raged - and it comes up time and again - i.e. to fix or not to fix!
It was a gamble then and it is a gamble now!!0 -
I've always been a cynic about fixes, but I'm rapidly coming around to the view that this time it is the way to go-with the right product of course. No free lunch, and no free laptop
