So what you're saying, Graham, is that the level of crime in the largest urban area in a county which is mainly rural is high, compared with the rest of the county?
I've also heard that the Pope is a follower of Roman Catholicism.
No. That was quite some explanation you had to go through to twist what I was saying, wasn't it!
Simply saying you can buy cheaper houses in high crime areas. Doesn't differ from any other part of the country.
Am I not allowed to respond when people say you shouldn't believe the jibberish of the usual suspects?0 -
it's good that we can all agree that property can be bought in Devon by most people and it is affordable.
that is contrary to what we are constantly told...
can we now stop being told that nobody can afford to buy in Devon now?0 -

Why not go the whole hog?
It's a very low crime area compared to parts of Mexico.
Thing is, if your looking to buy in Devon, the crime statistics of Mexico are going to be of little significance. Same goes for the crime levels across the whole of the UK.
It's high for Devon. The website states that. Therefore, the price is lower. For Devon.
Why do I even have to explain this?!
<sigh>0 -
it actually says England and Wales not Mexico.Graham_Devon wrote: »Why not go the whole hog?

What about the the difference between job opportunities, schools, transport links, entertainment/shopping etc between Plymouth and the rest of Devon? Or is the fact that it's located in the "drug capital" of a low crime county the only factor that affects the price?0 -
there are 795 properties within a 3 mile radius of this property for under £150,000 - don't forget that half of that would be sea. What about the the difference between job opportunities, schools, transport links, entertainment/shopping etc between Plymouth and the rest of Devon? it looks like that jibberish about property being unaffordable in Devon isn't quite true...0 -

Theres no real point discussing it, based on the discussion level above. Each city has an area to avoid. You'll find even cheaper houses in Plymouth in North Prospect just down the road.
However, there are other houses with access to all of the above, in the same city, in a much better area, and you'll be paying a 40-60k premium for the more socialable areas.
If you guys wish to simply ignore this completely obvious factor that house prices are always cheaper in areas people do not want to live for whatever reason, then that's up to you. I don't think the rest of the forum need it explaining in any length.
To look at this another way, the wages in those area are under 18k a year I believe.0 -

How about these - how many drive by shootings a day would you expect?
Eggbuckland, £130k
Keyham, £130k0
