Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 7th June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Bargainbird and all that follow

Well been up since just before 2 as had an attempted burglary. They forced the lock out of the patio door which luckily I heard and dog started barking. Turned all the lights on and ran down but they had run off. Had police here with dogs and now waiting for the fingerprint people to come, then need a locksmith. What ever can happen next!!!

Whilst I have been up I have done 2 loads of washing which is now out on the line, so at least I used cheap electric!!! Have to ring into work soon so that someone else can open up as I will have to be here until house secured. Have a good day all

Looks like a nice bright day here, shame I am off to work, chicken fried rice for dinner tonight, will nip in and collect dad on my way home, and he can spend an hour with us, he has to be back at 5 for his jab and dinner.

Will do a wash tonight, dd will be left with a list of jobs for the day, to include hoovering and prepping the dinner.

    Morning all
BB, hope the leg gets better soon, nic, how horrible.
Off to work soon, packups made, ham salad for hubby, cheese salad for me. Breakfast eaten, fish fed, next doors cat fed, no need to water the veggies as it lashed down last night.
I did the end of month figures for my department yesterday, they are miles out because someone unlocked my room during the holiday & the machines were used on the wrong codes, so the bursar will be screaming at me by next Monday, lol.
    Savory mince for tea tonight.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Good morning all ,how awful for you Nic,I hope they catch the little toerags .I was burgled once but luckily we were away at the time and my neighbour heard them and chased them away. But they still had made an awful mess of the house and for ages I wanted to move.
I hope everyone elses night was more peaceful . Today the sun is up and blazing away already so it looks like a nice day again.School run for me first thing then apart from some ironing a bit of a 'pottering day' I think.NSd thats for sure as I am trying to be as frugal as possible and use up some of the mountain of stocks in my freezer still.I am going to Ghent with my DD on Saturday on a daytip with her school so although it will be a long day I am looking forward to it.
I'll probably watch some catch-up t.v. whilst I'm ironing today.Hope everybody has a good day and gets all done that they have to.
    Cheers chums

    Morning everyone.

Gosh, Nic, how awful for you - I can imagine the experience leaves you really shaken. Hope the police catch them.

I have finally managed to unpack everything and put it all away. I really hate this process and it seems to string out for too many days. Somehow it's like the end of the whole holiday if the bags are not in sight, but then I get really annoyed at the clutter :rotfl::rotfl: and have a strop about the mess.

It's a lovely day today, sun is up and birds have been singing their little heads off. Work is calling but as it's a day of reading a load of new qualifications (deep sigh) I may just take the large pile of papers to Gibside and sit in the sun - it'll help my concentration. :o

Apart from milk I haven't bought anything since we got back :j and am determined to use up the freezer. I heard Chris Evans say yesterday that there's food in his freezer which has been there for years and years and probably won't eaten - we are in danger of the same thing. So, today it's sausages with veg for evening meal. I have lamb casserole for my lunchtime flask and OH has some too.

Sending out good vibrations to everyone.

Nic - hope you're feeling a bit better. Glad you interrupted them though. My dog would have let them come in, pick up and carry and give him a stroke on their way out. My cat on the other hand would have shredded them, if his treatment of me is anything to go by!

Taking said cats to the vets this morning for a check up and then will be going to pick up some storage for the childrens room that I've seen on ebay. Planning on using it in their rooms for paperwork and clothes storage etc. Will just have to put it up high enough so they can't reach. Savoury mince sounds yummy Hester - so thats what we'll have too - will get the mince out of the freezer this morning. xx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Nic - glad you are okay and they didn't manage to actually make off with anything! (my dog would have been the same, we are just here for his entertainment!)

Day off today! :) Got to go get eggs, have found some breakfast muffin and cookie recipes i want to bake for the tin, do a wash or two, change the bedding, vacuum, make a big pasta salad. Annnd relax!

Well done on the dress HH!

Not sure what to have for breakfast today - might get the eggs early and have scrambled egg on toast. OH is having gammon for dinner, i'm going for a jacket potato i think.

    Morning everyone

Nic - big hugs, hope you ok x

Dry, bright and sunny here. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Had a bit of a nightmare start to the day yesterday but got there in the end. Dinner last night was ok for everyone, we all had different things.

Work not quite so busy yesterday, so was able to catch up with emails etc not read on Monday. Working an extra hour today as we have no staff and lunchtime was going to be very difficult.

Washing is out on the line, dinner tonight is pasta with Lo gammon and mushrooms in a creme fraiche sauce, will make bread rolls to go with it. De-cluttered another pile of paperwork last night, so that all needs shredding, hopefully later. Hoping to get some kind of baking done today as still nothing in the tins.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
