Oh no, my iphone 3g has just stopped working, seems to have switched itself off and wont come on again.

Its over a year old, so out of guarantee, im not tied into a contract.

What should I do? not sure where to send it to get it repaired, is it worth repairing?

Can some one please give me some advice

Thanks
Waddle you do eh?

Have you got it wet? They put litmus in it at apple to check.

Take it to the genius bar at apple. Free and they will advise

definately not got it wet, have been really careful with it. Nearest apple store is 30 miles away, will have to go at the weekend, if I can last that long without it!

    thanks for your help

Book a genius appointment. They will probably offer you an out of warranty replacement, which is about £140. You may get a refurb 3G, or might be really lucky and get a refurb or even new 3GS.

Can you do a forced reset? Hold down the power button at the same time as the front option button for about 10 seconds.

I've only had to do it twice in a year on 3GS. Neighbour bought iPhone 4 and had to do it once in 1st week.
