Sorry to be the 1 to spoil all the fun but...

    M&S is just SSE.
Secondly, everyone on this site knows.....

Thank you for your advice but its not helpful to make comments like this that make people just finding their way feel stupid, I am asking so I can figure out.

Is is it me or does this person seem very pro M+S energy even when other posters are advising just SSe standard domestic tariff, and an earlier poster considering opting for the VARIABLE M+S energy, instead of the edf fix is insane, given what's just about to happen in the market place.

Erm at the point i made the quoted post the comments about Sse hadn't been made so I was unaware I also later thanked macman for his helpful advice which I was then looking into. I have no m&s agenda I just liked the idea of their package and as I noted at the start of the thread wanted to explore if it was a sensible choice to make.

I do apologise, i didnt mean to word it so that it sounded offensive.
All i was trying to do is inform you that switching to that tariff is a mistake.
So surely the comment was helpful if you now know :).

Apology Accepted! I do now Realise there isn't much love for M&S as an energy provider! But I am concerned about getting locked in with a provider before I figure out my average usage for fuel.

If you message me the size of your house and the number of people stayin in it. I can give you a decent rough estimate on what you will use. I could also advise for you which tariff i would choosed based on those figures. If not find the fixed tariff with the cheapest unit rates for your area. I have to go out now, so good luck!

No figuring out necessary. Call your existing supplier and they will tell you your annual consumption (or calculate it from two bills a year apart).
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I dont have a supplier I currently live with other people and just pay a rent so have no starting figures to work from!

Then use the calculation facility on your chosen comp site-it will be near enough for your purposes.
