thanks to the above posters, is there a free app/widget that will lock the phone instead of pressing the on/off button to lock the phone.

I have an app called 'lock screen' (a white padlock) free from android market, just touch it and screen turns off.
Tho you do have to use your power button to turn your screen back on.
    See what you think.

    :j

Zedge - 1000's of ringtones and wallpapers!

Where's my Droid? - perfect for me as I'm forever mislaying my phone! (If your phone is on silent and you can't find it, you text it a "code word" from another phone and it automatically switches silent mode off and starts ringing!!):D

    Fbreader (ebook reader)
    Nhs direct
    My tracks
The Simon Tatham portable puzzle selection - small, efficient, low on bullpoo and high on quality, 15 free puzzle generators (always fresh, always new)
SMS Backup+ (live background backup to GMail)
Go SMS Pro (currently the best of the SMS apps)
SayMyName/announcify - tells you who is calling/texting without looking at the screen *very useful*

But there are thousands! The Wildfire is a good, mid-level phone, but it is not infinite - don't keep apps you're not using, delete and move some to SD card where you can, it'll keep the phone faster for you.
