Direct kitchen factory ltd in Mansfield aren't related to Direct kitchens and bathrooms in Rochdale.

Haven't had any direct dealings with DKaB but I've not heard anything bad about them.

Wow-kitchens is another matter. Stay away...

Yes, Vance Miller is one of the biggest crooks in the country. He came to our house, but gave us a false name. We knew it was too good to be true: solid wood kitchen units (including solid wood carcasses!) for less than £1K for the whole kitchen. We quizzed him until he admitted that there was no solid wood in the units. He seemed quite nervous of us and probably thought we were working for the authorities (we are probably nothing like his usually victims). He asked my husband what he did, to which he answered "I'm a lawyer" (he is, by the way).

A really odd thing happened! Since our small-holding is very muddy we asked him to remove his shoes before he entered our house, and on the way out when he bent down to put his shoes on, his trousers slipped down a little (what a ghastly sight!), and on the bottom of his back / top of his bottom was a tattoo!!! I asked him who "Nicola" was? He looked shocked that I had seen it!

Anyway soon afterwards I was listening to You and Yours on Radio 4 when I heard about this chap, Vance, who had a business partner called Nicola, and they said he had been banned from trading after being served with a "Stop Now Order". Because of this I looked into this company and discovered he was indeed Vance!! I phoned Radio 4 and eventually spoke with the You and Yours staff and told them that he was still trading illegally (they could not believe the story!).

Only last week I found one of his adverts online, so he is still at it. What's the point of serving such a notice on him if it is not enforced? What a waste of public money! He needs to be locked up again.....

In fact (I had forgotten about this until now) I saw an ad in our local weekly newspaper that looked like one of his, with a photo of a man that looked suspiciously like him, and he claimed he owned was a long-established local firm......now we live an awfully long way from Rochdale!! Will phone them tomorrow.....
  • Hi

Having just read the above I am now hugely concerned!

I recieved a quote from Howdens and took this to Wow kitchens who claim to provide the same kitchen cheaper, so I ordered. However to say that I am less than impressed is an understatement!! Most of the order was missing and the items are not as they appear in the Howdens brochure as I was led to believe and I am still trying to resolve these issues.

I stupidely paid a large chunk in cash and would like to know whether I am entitled to return the kitchenreturned and get my money back.

Can anyone confirm whether Vance Miller is now connected to WOW kitchens or Kitchen Clearance co?

    Any info would be helpful

    Thanks

dont know for sure but any kitchen company in the rochdale or GM area and has a wow name, should be treated with a huge amount of caution.
    a huge amount.

  • Oh dear fingers crossed I get the rest of my items as I not likely to see my money again!

Any other users had direct experience with WOW-Kitchens?

Not sure if Wow kitchens is connected to Vance Miller or not.

Just to warn people, this website is connected to him - he's even daft enough to put a photo of himself on there:

I went to Wow kitchens while doing my never ending research into kitchen suppliers and was luckily warned off by one of the posters on this board. I would be interested in how you get on.
  • DON'T USE THIS COMPANY AT ALL!!

Sorry for the caps but it needs to be said loud, what a bunch at Wow Kitchens.

I had a kitchen installed by them in August, first of all they managed to only deliver half the items on the order, even those were the wrong ones.
When the fitters were installing the kitchen, they continued to deliver the wrong items all day, in the end think it was 4/5 deliveries. All I had done was changing my kitchen drawers and doors, a couple of extra units and appliances. How can they get something so easy but so wrong.
Wrong sizes, wrong appliances, everything was a shambles.
After this, the drawer fronts kept falling off. I noticed that the cupboard doors were scratched, the drawer fronts were scratched and cut from a cupboard door, real shoddy work.
They never supplied any edging to the plinths and the whole thing was a joke.
I had a couple of doors replaced as they were scratched that bad and the ones that turned up were just as bad.
In the end I've taken them to court and won the judgement, now I am trying to chase my money but they keep ignoring the contact.
Since then i've had an engineer come out to repair the oven, he noticed that they hadn't installed a gas valve to the hob and the electrical wiring wasn't safe as the live wires showing through. I am just glad he noticed these issues before anything serious happened. According to the engineer these are legal requirements.

I now wish I came across this forum before using them, I am currently seeking further legal action and intend to write to BBC Watchdog and Trading Standards, maybe if we all did the same then action would be taken against these cowboys.

I've also had the owner "Chris Gisby" threatening to turn up at my house and wait for me, or to "send someone around to sort me out" (his words), i've told him that I will report him to the police if he even comes near my property.

He may be Vance Miller. Black Kitchens, contacted them previously as well and would avoid them too.
