just to bring everyone up to speed with my printer fiasco - i returned the printer at a cost of £10 to me (gonna try get a refund of it) but, now the guy sent me this email;-
We tested the printer. It clearly showed in the printer menu the black cartridge was less than half full and the colour cartridge has finished and needed to change the colour cartridge.. That was the only problem, you needed to install a new colour cartridge. When a new colour cartridge installed it prints perfectly. You have wasted yours and ours time and money. Could you please explain this to me?
Regards
Dave
well i can assure you this wasnt the case as i had only just put the ink in that he provided with the printer (it was brand new, sealed in a box) and i only printed one piece of paper before it broke on me - so, how can the ink be empty? i dont understand - i think he is trying to worm his way out of refunding me
i have wasted £60 over this and will never ever buy this way again - i just thought it was easier.......
any advice please?
ive replied saying the above and am waiting for his reply........
thanks all

In what way was it broken after printing one sheet of paper, what was the actual fault?0
-
im not sure - it just wouldnt print - it just made a clicking noise and the ink cartridges were stuck in the middle - i opened all the usual settings in the printer and tried to work out what was wrong but nothing came up as it wouldnt work - i turned it on and off and cancelled the page id wanted to print but still nothing happened - i left it overnight and retried - nothing.......at no time did the ink say it was empty - and why should itve been when he had provided brand new cartridges?0

What make and model of printer is it?0

it was an epson c42 - im just waiting for his reply now as to whether i will get a refund - me thinks he will be trying to wriggle out of it........
while browsing i have read his feedback and found the following negative, yes, most are positive, but, there are some negative;-
definitely second hand - parts missing"
Great sevice-prompt delivery&provided me with2,more expensive cartridges(ran out of originals),however, the inkyjet cartridges aren't actually working. I don;t believe this is the fault of the seller!"
The delivery took langer than claimed. A cable was missing. The device did not work. After nearly a month of sending e-mails nothing has been resolved. Do not buy anything from this company."

According to the manual

Installing the Ink Cartridges
4. Press the ink button
The printer begins ink charging. It takes about one and a half minutes. While charging, the printer produces a variety of mechanical sounds. This is normal. When the green lamp stops blinking, ink charging is complete.
Caution:
Do not turn the power off during the ink charging process
Do not load paper until ink charging is complete
Note:
The ink cartridges packaged with your printer are party used during initial setup. In order to produce high quality printouts, the print head in your printer will be fully charged with ink. This one-off process consumes a quantity of ink and subsequent cartridges will last for their full rated life.
That may explain where a lot of the ink has gone.
Did the one page you printed use a lot of colour?
Anyhow you could take the sellers word as they say it now works anyway, so you could pay another £10 to have it sent back to you, the seller may want you to pay for the new ink cartridge they have put in it.
The possibility of having to return an item is something you need to consider when buying by mail order.0 -
i only printed out some notes from my wordpad - i had 3 pages to print and only managed to get the first printed but it was only black ink - no colour...
i know how to do ink charging and that and how it works - this was already done before i began to print....0 -
im sure this guy is trying it on with me he has sent me the following message;-
I am sorry, we looked at again, you have used the colour ink and half of
black ink. The printer has a memory chip which holds information about
number of cycles (prints) of colour and black. So there is no question
about it.
Normally re-stoking of printers with in original box and contents is £25.
Since you have made a case of illness, I will reduce this to just £10 and
refund the cost of printer. This comes out of my own pocket. This is
costing time and money all round.

just sent me;-
okay i deduct £5 - this is final and matter closed.............0 -
take the hit and move on, is this the Ebay seller i presume
PS you should have replied in your original thread not start a new one as people who have subscribed to the original thread wont be aware of this one , like i wasnt just caught it by chance.0 -
I wouldn't 'take the hit' if I were you. This guy is taking the mickey. Get in touch with Amazon and ask them to resolve it (go on "your orders" , click on the sellers name, then I think click on a link about "ordering through marketplace sellers" ... anyway you'll find it. ) Unfortunately Amazon don't seem to say anything about refunding your postage for sending it back to the seller, though legally you are entitled to this (according to Trading Standards) as the product was faulty, it wasn't just you changed your mind or something.
If you get no joy there, then how about asking your credit card company for a chargeback, as they are liable as well.
You paid your money and received rubbish. Don't let him get away with it. And don't forget to leave him terrible feedback on Amazon!
Good luck.0
