TalkTalk email problems

Options
My talktalk broadband is connecting to internet ok but not to outlook emails.
The talktalk diagnostics tells me to phone talktalk. I was just wondering before I do that if it was worth just reloading the talktalk installation discs?

  • A friend of mine is having the very same problem sending emails via talktalk. She keeps getting a message back saying that the server is busy or words to that affect. I spent ages round there last night trying to get some sense out of the talktalk customer agony line.
Anyway it transpires that they are having a number of complaints about this and they have been told to talktalk customers through the set up for talktalk webmail.
My guess is that they are over-subscribed and their POP3 and SMTP servers simply cannot handle the large number of customers.
The quality of the customer services just makes me want to scream. I was put back into the queue once because I insisted on talking to an engineer there and then without having to wait for a callback and go through the same rigmarole again when I was connected to another customer services person. The second customer service agent put me back into the queue again when I insisted on speaking to a supervisor.
When I got through to the third customer service agent I was told that my request to speak to a supervisor about the way that I had been treated was unreasonable and placed on indefinite hold.
I think that every one of their customer service agents needs full retraining as they are clearly not very good at what they are doing.
  • hi, I have been using outlook Express for the last 4 months to send /receive e-mails from several talkTalk accounts. I have had problems for the last 48 hours with timeouts from the talkTalk servers.
There is a recorded announcement on customer services saying they are "working on a problem with e-mails". this is option 3, 2, 3, from the TalkTalk customer services number.

Oh good ! Thought it was somethig I'd done, lol :p

Emails have been iffy for about 2 days, but since lunchtime I'm getting nothing.

Oh - and their webmail is down too (not recognising accounts/passwords) - I've just tried it with all three of my email addresses.

Had to be today didn't it - I have loads on Freecycle, with plenty of takers, and wanted to get it all collected this weekend - now I can't even get my address to anyone

It appears we can still email out if that's of any use to anyone :)

Don't know why I didn't think to try it earlier

  • Yes, thats definite then! Spoke to Technical Services tonight and they confirmed they have problems with email - they said their engineers are working on it but could give no timescale on when it would be fixed. I had spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong and finally threw in the towel and spoke to the horse's mouth - if I had done that in the first place I would have save myself a whole of time and trouble!!! What a shower!

Thanks for the confirmation C F. I have been having problems too and like other posters thought it was my fault. All we can do now is wait fot the TT brains to sort it out.
