:eek:At the end of April, I received a letter from TT beginning, "Just to let you know, you're over your download limit..."
This letter stated that the generous allocation of 40GB had been over used in March and May - nearly double each month. It explained that 40GB is enough for 55 movies, 900 albums and hours of online gaming. Apart from listening to some radio programmes and a viewing a couple of TV programmes, i mostly browse the web for a few hours or read a few emails. Furthermore, I had been away from home and not used the web at all for large parts of both months.
I challenged TT to provide a breakdown of usage to explain the alleged excess. They refused to answer the question and it has taken nearly ten emails to get the total adjusted for April- about 2%, and I am still engaged in battle to get the 80% figure for March changed.
Why am I telling you this? Well, if this so called over use is reported a second, then a third time, TT reserves the right to slap on a monthly extra charge of £4.99; that's nearly £60 per year. As we pay by Direct Debit, it would be easy for them to do.
Other TT subscribers beware!

Before you start blaming others, have you checked things yourselves?

Is your wireless secured? Have you got things downloading in the background? Is anyone else in the house downloading large items?

How strange . I received exactly the same letter at exactly the same time .

My wireless is secure and although we do download the odd thing its nothing near 40GB.

My OH has installed soft wear whereby we can monitor our usage . It will be interesting to see the results at the end of the month .;)

TT had a long-standing issue with their usage meter, but reported it as being fixed - hence why they are now sending out notices. However a browse of their forum shows quite a few complaints about this, so it may be that they still have problems.

To Robt, Thanks for your suggestions. However, the connection is secure, I don't do background down loading and only one person in the house uses the computer.
TT have been forced to admit that monthly usage is below even 10%. Still, though, the 86GB alleged use for March remains. I am easily able to monitor my daily usage, and it is truly miniscule. I think the reply by Mandi to my post echoes this.
I just don't want others to be ripped off by TT.

    To Mandi,
Thank you for backing me up with your similar experience. TT have admitted that the letter alleging overuse was sent in error; this, though, does not explain how the misleading bar graph stating that I had downloaded over 80 GB in March and April was concocted! The true figure is less than 10%.

    To bod1467,
According to the letter sent by TT, 40GB is enough to download 55 movies, 900 albums, and hours of online gaming. Honestly, I have better things to do than spend so much of my time on them. In fact, my usage is less than 4GB. TT falsified the figures and then sent their letter.

Or their bandwidth usage meter is still b0rked but they don't want to admit it and see this as a good quick-hit money-making scam. ;)

    Hi all,

my advice is that you should always run a useage monitor in order to provide evidence to contest charges should the need arise.

rgbargee, how did we identify the true figure, did you provide evidence?

    Hi TT Company Rep,
I don't think you are well informed about your own company.
Have just spent 20 minutes on the phone to Customer Services who apologised and admitted that this is a TT problem affecting hundreds of people. As to providing evidence, the customer services advisor conceded that it would take one person 24 hours a day non stop usage to reach the alleged figure of 80 GB plus. He agreed that my download had never exceeded 5GB a month.
