Vendors haven't responded to enquiries...

To be honest it hasn't been that long but everything else is in place almost for exchange. Our solicitors sent enquiries and the enquiries that came from the searches about 2 weeks ago, the vendor's solicitor has them but hasn't heard from them since. Our EA said that they can't chase anymore and the vendors have found a place they want to rent with them... so we're pretty much just waiting for enquiries to come back now.
We've got all our searches back, our mortgage offer and deeds are in place, deposit is ready to get transferred to the solicitors....
I'm soooo bored of waiting and OH's mum has decided to start "moving" stuff to our current place because they are going away. It's filled up our room, the back room and another room and we are running out of space despite saying please don't bring anymore round.
Any words of advice/encouragement/sanity?

They can't chase any more? How ridiculous!
This morning I called both my solicitor and then went and sat in the EA's office and asked them both to chase the purchasers solicitor and they both did just that.
They should both be able to chase this for you - and give you some idea now of timescale. Call your solicitor and ask them when they are expecting to exchange and complete.0 -

Spoke to my solicitors and tried to get a date of exchange and he said on our end the only thing holding them up is waiting for the enquiries. They've phoned the vendors' solicitors and they've said they've chased them but haven't had anything back. They've said that they will phone again if they don't have anything by Thursday morning but had literally got off the phone from the other solicitors about 20 mins before I called.
When asked RE: date of exchange I was given a roundabout way at this stage in the process I've got as much chance of finding out how long a bit of string is....
How many enquiries are there normally? We have about 20/25 that have gone back.0 -

The enquiries raised would have all been in the information from when they bought the place themselves. The other bits are about it being in a prone to flooding area which we are aware of and it doesn't even reach the place.0 -

That raises the question of why you need to bother asking, given that you know the answers already?
The usual reason for hold-ups is that the vendors have cold feet, or there's a problem with the place they are moving to.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I'll guess I'll keep chasing0 -
Is there a target completion date on which the parties are all agreed?
There's no point asking for an exchange date. Once all the enquiries are completed and you've agreed a completion date which is acceptable to you all, then and only then, can contracts be exchanged.I am a mortgage broker. your not MY buyers are you?!
fwiw i'm just waiting on the same thing for the house i am buying...it's chain free. My buyers are at home with mum and waiting on us.
Just waiting on enquiries!
I bug them a fair bit lol. Email the solicitors and i ask about whats being done...find out the people i am purchasing from are working quickly but their solicitor seems to be going at his own pace, so i call my agent and email my new homes agent and express there is a need to speed up.
Just keep making yourself known, i figure a gentle nudge to various people speeds things up and keeps your name at the top of the pile.
I soooo want to move now!
Lat year i lost the house i was buying and the chain collapsed..i was gutted to have to unpack my house
This time i am to nervous to pack. I will be happy once i exchange.
