Are jogging trousers now commonly a part of the main school uniform?

Just got the uniform list for my son's school.

Is it normal to have black jogging trousers as the official uniform? No other kinds of trousers are named for the bottom part for boys.

I thought this was a bit odd but I guess it makes sense in terms of little kids/getting mucky and being comfortable.

Does anyone else have jogging trousers as the official trousers of their kids school.

I am wondering if it is a typo?

Only for PE. I think joggers as a school trouser looks quite untidy. I know a few of the really overweight children at my childrens school wear joggers instead of trousers, but that's because their mums find it hard to find formal trousers to fit.
  • Some schools do (some first/primaries) as belts/hooks/buttons/zips were a massive cause of wetting accidents and when staffing is short wetting accidents mean 1 person out of the classroom dealing, jogging bottoms being elasticated waists made it less of an issue.

Our school doesn't have it as part of the uniform but my nephews school does, there's also a local high school to use where the uniform is sports wear because it's a sports specialist school.

I would check but it wouldn't surprise me (and it would have made life so much easier with both of my boys if they were allowed at ours!)

yes, ours have that too, but as part of their PE kit only (although I do sometimes see kids coming out of school with their joggers on, I'm assuming they've had accidents/torn their trousers etc that day).

At our school it's joggers for PE too and @diable there really was no need for that comment. A lot of schools probably choose joggers for reception boys for the reasons stated above by shy-but-need-help.

at my step sons school(primary), you can either wear school trousers or joggers(royal blue) that match the school jumper.

the majority of the kids( roughly 90% ) opt for the joggers, and though i prefer school trousers, the matching joggers do look quite nice

At my sons school nursery we are encouraged to send him in joggers on a Friday, as that's PE day, the rest of the week we have a choice of sending him in either joggers or school trousers.

My son originally went in joggers as he is only in Rising 3s so it was easier for him to manage when he had go to the toilet, but now that he is more used to nursery he wears school trousers with elasticated waists.

I think it is good that they are given the choice as it is much easier for the nursery children to wear joggers especially if they are Rising 3's and only recently potty trained.
