I have bought from this guy several times with no problems. Obviously it makes sense to buy several packs at one time.
Think I've succeeded and then the email arrives saying "Sorry ..."
Bit like the Amazon whoopsie! :rotfl: my heart was racing - then I saw the shipping.
But that made it even sweeter when I read that Paddypaws had struck gold. :T
I nervously triple checked the postage - and then snapped it up before the MSE hoardes swooped in and took the lot.
Hoping my contrary guy doesn't turn his nose up at them: "Neow - I don't like salmon".
I was so excited - I didn't look to see if they did any other flavours.
They do chicken as well!
Bought a couple more - made no difference to the postage.
Hope I won't need to use them for some months.
Only just recovering from having to give our poor lad antibiotics - thanks to the marauding tomcat that bit him.
We used a Mikki Pill Gun (2.22 @ VetUK) - it was a struggle.
Got best results when loaded with warm milk - not normally allowed that; so he opened his mouth for the milk, and we surprised him with the tablet.0 -
Pill Pockets arrived today - just inside 3 weeks.
On the day I paid it worked out at £4.38 per packet - approx 45 treats per packet.
Earliest Best By date: 3rd Jan 2012 (just one pack) and latest is 4th Dec 2012. Pretty good, I think.
Greenies®FAQ
If people can get away with simply shoving the tablet down Kitty's throat, then it's important to quickly follow with something like a water chaser or wet food ... or maybe smearing butter on his nose.
A tablet stuck in the oesophagus can cause painful erosive oesophagitis.
I am also nervous about liquid medication for a wriggly cat : "DO NOT squirt liquid medication into the cat's throat or tongue. Liquids are likely to go down a cat's windpipe, making the cat choke. For liquid medications, insert the dropper between the cat's cheek and teeth."
Enormous thanks to paddypaws for coming up with the goods; and to MrsE for introducing the topic.
Oh - nearly forgot this tried and tested method.0 -
:rotfl:Oh, SadBunny - read point 1 and thought "they've obviously a stuffed cat if they can manage that" - then got to point 2 (and beyond):rotfl:
I would need at least 2 extra pairs of hands/arms to be able to do this - dread the day when either of mine need tablets.
Going to have to have another bash at worming again soon - think it'll have to be the drops on the neck again ...:(
The bit about the dog at the end is just spot on too!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

We slide ours into a little slit in a prawn - works a treat.0

tried lots of ways to get tablets down the neck of one of my cats ( he was a feral stray so was quite fiery anyway and then he was shot with an air rifle- another post on this somewhere.......
anyway.....
tried a pill poper thing
pate
cheese
special food from the vets
prawns
tuna
etc
he always managed to eat the food and leave the tablet....
i couldnt even wrap him in a blanket as his wound was so big and yuk and sore......
i had to put him between my legs and try and open his mouth( i had gloves on....... it was awful.. i got bit soooooooo much.. i had a can of savlon by the side of me to spray on my bites and scratches!!!
boy was i glad when he came off the tablets0 -
sadbunny....very glad that you made use of the ebay link! lets hope he still has some more for sale when I need to get more! Just in the spirit of MSE, I will add that I never use a whole pill pocket, I find they are plenty big to pinch in half and actually there is more chance of the sneaky cat gulping down a smaller piece of treat without chewing and finding the tablet!0

We've started pill pocket training.
Gave him a small piece - not interested.
He could smell his breakfast waiting on the counter (oops) but I told him he had to eat the greenie first.
Good boy did, and accepted a second small piece - then I gave him his breakfast.
He decided against his breakfast and demanded more greenies.
(Normally he hates salmon flavour ... did seem to chew ... do they stick to his teeth?)
I gave him one more piece, then left the room as he got too insistent.
So I have high hopes.
"Best invention in the world! My Baby Kitty is horrible about being pilled. She has to have 1/2 tablet of Lasix every day to help with fluid in her lungs. She's stressed enough as it is & at 18 yrs old, I didn't want to stress her any further. So I decided to try them.
Now she comes asking ME for her medicine." Phorum 5
I will strictly follow the advice I have gleaned online to avoid this:
"Greenies worked for me for a very long time. Until my cat accidently tasted the pill inside them. Now, I occasionally try giving him an empty Greenie just to see if he got over it and looks at me with sad eyes as if to say, "Why do want to kill me?"
This shouldn't happen because cats tend to swallow food without chewing : "Cats have no flat-crowned crushing teeth and therefore cannot chew their food; instead, they cut it up." pet-yard
I will be attempting the "3-treat method"
Sneakily put the medication in 2nd piece of pill pocket.
Give 1st piece and let him enjoy.
Show him 2nd and 3rd pieces - one in each hand. (Make sure he really wants it.)
Give him 2nd piece (medicated) quickly followed by 3rd piece.
Greedy cat should gulp it down, I hope!
They now have Vivitreats Canine Tablet Pockets at Vet UK . . .
I've never had a whit of trouble giving a tablet to a dog.0 -
A couple of clients at ours use those treat sticks (the ones that come in a pack of 6 I think, about 6 inches long, as thick as a cigarette) make a small incision in 1 bit (you can usually divide into 6bits) and stick the pills in. Works well0
