When do they have to come out of the small seats? Is it as long as the top of the head doesn't reach the top of the seat?
My 13 month old is still in the small seat and I have arguments about it with my mum every week. Yes, his legs are bent, but I feel he is safer. He does enjoy going in his brothers forward facing, but looks so fragile in it...:wall:0 -
We have the pre runner to this
I got one shipped in from Germany 5 years ago for my then 10 month old and then another shipped over 22 months later.
They've been selling in UK now for 2 years - going from strength to strength. They have several Which awards for both safety and value. It's virtually impossible to incorrectly fit it and they transfer really easily from car to car as they use the 3 point seatbelt to secure across the child's tummy, via an impact cushion. Much safer if the child is in an accident than the straps most baby seats come with as they distribute the force.
The newer models have built in aquadraw on the impact cushion which sits across baby's tummy. I don't know if they offer it in the UK, but the German seats offer free replacements of the seat if you are involved in an accident, whether there is visible damage or not.
The chair grows with the child, from 10 months to 12 years (or when child gets too big)
I can't praise them enough. Kiddy all the way.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Thanks for all the replies, it's such a minefield! Takes me back to the nightmare of choosing her pram lol. I'm tempted to leave her in her current seat as she is little and her head is nowhere near the top and keep an eye out for deals as they come around.
Thanks again folks!!0 -
if she's still small and under the weight limit, as long as her head's not at the top I would say keep her in the infant carrier. That's what I was advised to do when i went to a specialist gold standard fitter at a local shop recommended by the safety guy at the council, he checked my seat which is only a mothercare one, and said it was great and that the main thing is to make sure you fit it well each time, but that they're safest in there.
This is the best advice on here.
If you are going to move into a group 1 seat though, if they fit your car I would advise a Maxi Cosi or Britax seat, although not the Prince. Can't go wrong with a Tobi. If your car is Isofix see if you can afford one of those. Try and go to a car seat fitting expert at a Car Seat retailer. (Fitting Car Seats is my job!).0 -

Stay rear facing. Far safer. Up until he is 13kg or his head reaches the top.0 -
I'm in the same boat but after reading lots of reviews on "Which" I'm going with the Kiddy Energy Pro, thought about rear facing but my wee boy is really long at 10months old and his knees are really bent he he constantly kicks the car seat..... so it's forward facing time for the wee guy.Gave up trying to have funny Sigs..0
