Car seat help please!!

Morning everyone!
My daughter is 10 months old and still in her first stage car seat that came with her travel system and I'm looking for a next stage car seat to move her into.
Just looking for any recommendations please, she is quite dinky but very mobile and sits up unaided very well.

Would appreciate any thoughts on good ones to consider.

Thank you!!:j

I have a Britax prince one, its very good and sturdy although LO has worked out how to get his arms out of the straps although he's 23m and doesn't like staying in one place for very long. I have one in my car and one in my mums car. She got hers in Halfords like £80, Keep a look out for their sales as they do really good half price deals on well known brands and fit for free :)

Keep her rear facing for as long as possible if you can. Much safer.

    Loads of info here: https://www.rearfacing.co.UK

Go to your local Halfords where they will usually have all of their childrens car seats available to try out. Put your daughter in them, see which one is best for her and for you and buy it. That's what we did with all our 3.

Halfords don't sell rearfacing seats. (and they aren't cheap - at least £200 - but they will last up to 4 years old and what price a child's safety?)

Kiddicare usually have them on special offer as we got one from there to use on flights as the britax prince even fits easy jet seats! :D. We have the maxi cosi tobi for normal day to day use which is a brilliant seat especially for long journeys as it is very high up and means little ones can see out of the car windows and it is so easy to move in and out of the car too if you need to. :D

we have the Maxi Cosi Axiss, it's a brilliant car seat and a lifesaver when trying to get a heavy child in and out of the car, it swivels towards the door so you can put the child in and then you swing it round so they're then front facing, it's brilliant, all the mums who I know who have it love it and all those who don't tell me they wish they'd bought it whenever they see me!

Trust me, there will be times when your now compliant toddler is fighting not to get in the seat and it's such a bonus not to be twisted around trying to get them in. I'm also 6months pregnant now and there is no way i could lift my older child into a forward facing fixed seat as there is a lot of belly in the way already and i have SPD so the twisting whilst carrying him would absolutely kill me.

Short answer: buy the Axiss...it's brilliant!

p.s. I'm not paid by Maxi Cosi but i wish i was, with the amount of people that have bought one since seeing mine i'd be making a fortune in commission!

    Car seats are a minefield!

I have just changed from the 1st stage seat.

I joined Which? on the £1 trial period (remember to email them before the month is up to cancel or they will start taking the full money but it appears to be a rolling month contract rather than a fixed term) & read up on the 100+ seats they had tested. You can filter the results to show rating for side or front impact etc. There are videos of how some of the seats perfomed in testing. You will see that one of the worse performing seats was over £200!

I chose one of the 'Kiddy' seats & am very happy with it. If you live near Peterborough, there is a massive shop called Kiddicare who have a huge range in stock - I was too far away to go but know people who have used it.

    Hope this helps.

if she's still small and under the weight limit, as long as her head's not at the top I would say keep her in the infant carrier. That's what I was advised to do when i went to a specialist gold standard fitter at a local shop recommended by the safety guy at the council, he checked my seat which is only a mothercare one, and said it was great and that the main thing is to make sure you fit it well each time, but that they're safest in there.

my friend in switzerland has one of those swivel ones, i think they seem great too!
