yep I've just put avira on. It is a bit faster now, I've turned off defender. Can't find wireless on here at moment, so got it plugged in to hub. When I ask to connect to a network there's nothing showing up.....

if nothing is showing up, start, connect to, pick manually connect, and enter your ssid. (network name), and security type, encryption, password, set to always connect automatically, and broadcasting ssid or not

If you click on the start button, then type in msconfig then click on the startup tab, you will see a list of all programmes that start up when you switch on your laptop. There's probably quite a lot on there you don't need so you can uncheck them. This will stop them starting up automatically on rebooting but you can always go back in and change the settings if you decide you want the programme to start automatically.

looks like the allocated file for system hibernation is massive - do you really need to have hibernate enabled ?? Probably a better option to turn it off and save that hdd space. I strongly suspect if you do this you'll have far less problems both with hdd space and general running :) p.s. Idon't use hibernate on any of my machines...if leaving it idle for hours then better to shut it down completely....

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D
