Dog sitting cost?

Does anyone know what the 'going rate' is for home boarding a small dog in the Berkshire area? My friend is going to look after another friends dog for me and she wants to pay her properly, but none of us know what that would be.

Thanks,

    Thanks,
Don't know if the cost varies between areas, but I've been quoted around £18 a day for home boarding.

It really does depend on which part of Berkshire you are in, and also what services you are going to get. The links posted above, one was just a 'pop-in' service, whereas some are someone staying in your house for the whole time. Do you want 24 hour care, or just daycare? There's a whole different level of committment for the pet carer between the two!

I am toying with the idea of setting up as a pet sitter, and am also a fully qualified vet nurse. I was thinking around £15 - 20 per day, incl food, and at least 2 walks daily. Perhaps £20-25 per day if I had to check wounds, admin meds, check BG, do physio etc...

Edit to add - that would be for a pooch staying at my house.

I'm not sure I agree with 'pop-in for an hour' pet sitters for dogs.... may be OK for say 48hrs, but any longer than that and I'd refuse - they are pack animals, highly domesticated, and need their humans around most of the day! Or at least a substitute human, if their actual one is on their jollys lol!
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

The going rate here in north hampshire is £20 a night, I do housesitting where I live in your home fro £25 a night.

With homeboarding generally the dog is part of the family and goes on all walks etc and sleeps inside.

I think thats what I pay for my dog to have a sleepover in her walkers house. Worth every penny tbh, I can go away and know she's having fun in very safe hands.
