Hi,
We have a Zanussi Gas Hob with 4 burners and the front right and back left burners refuse to stay lit.
The seem to spark and lit but as soon as you let go of the nozzle the burner goes out.
Any advice fixing this - no DIY knowledge in that area whatsoever?
Any ideas on the cost of getting it fixed?
Thanks!

Have you cleaned it recently? The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits. - Einstein0

Clean it plenty of times but 1 burner never stayed lit from the start, the other has gradually taken longer and longer to stay lit and now doesn't stay lit at all!2014: Beaulieu Family Ticket, Pregnancy Massage, Nuby Weaning Kit

Does the gas come out when they are not lit or does it automatically cut out when there is no 'flame'?
If so could be the thermocouple. A piece of metal that when it heats allows the gas through. No heat then it shuts off the supply so you don't have gas escaping in your house.0 -
Yeah the gas does come out when dial is pushed down and clicking, the flame will then light and stay lit all the time the dial is pushed down but as soon as you let go of the dial the flame goes out!2014: Beaulieu Family Ticket, Pregnancy Massage, Nuby Weaning Kit

So the flames goes out becuase the gas supply cuts off when you release the dial is released?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

when it heats up it sends an electrical signal to the gas valve to tell it there is a flame so it can release the main gas to the burner, if the flame goes out the thermocouple gets cold and shuts off the gas, also known as an FFD of Flame Failure Device0

Fancy hob that - ours doesn't have such a device.

I would go for the thermocouple's have had it.
All new hobs and gas cookers fitted in 'multiple occupancy dwellings' now have to have thermocouples, commonly called FSD's fitted.0
