UKCPS Ticket

Hi,
My friend received a UKCPS parking ticket, he was parked in a disabled bay, he is not disabled. He normally would not do this it was a mistake.
He was going to pay the £60, however I read the advice is to ignore these tickets.
I'm not sure if this is advisable as he was wrongly parked in a disabled bay. He is not the registered owner of the vehicle.
I'd be grateful for some advice.

You already know the answer. Ignore. Make no contact. Do not acknowledge.
You probably won't hear from them ever again. If you do, continue to ignore forever.0 -
But be careful what you say on here. Representatives from UKCPS are know to read these forums trying to gather "evidence". So please don't give any clue about the identity of the driver, and be very wary of any private messages you receive. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

As Trisontana says be careful what you say as Peter looks in here. Who is the registered keeper of the vehicle? Make them aware they will be receiving a letter regarding this.
As the RK has no responsibility at all because they were not the driver. Simple to ignore then!0 -
Hi,
My brother received a UKCPS parking ticket, he was parked in a disabled bay, he is not disabled. He normally would not do this it was a mistake.

Yep, as Peter Haswell - head teaboy at UKCPS - reads this forum and as UKCPS have taken a couple of people to Court for this situation, all you have to do is make sure no-one mentions who was driving the car. Not here, not anywhere.
All UKCPS can do is find out the registered keeper and bombard him/her with threatograms, and if they did try Court againt the keeper they would not be able to enforce the claim.
As long as the keeper isn't a company or lease-hire firm? If so then your brother would need to alert them to the scam letters which will be arriving and make sure they do not tell who was driving. No-one should reply at all.
Come back here if you need more help.
And please tell your brother not to ever park in any disabled bay, advisory or otherwise, unless he or a passenger qualifies as a disabled person (Equality Act 2010 definition). The spaces are provided by the retailer/service for customers who meet that definition, and even if the spaces are empty it doesn't make it OK for an able-bodied person to park there. I am sure he knows that, but it's morally wrong and actually is one of the main reasons scammer PPCs exist.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for the advice.
He is going to pay the fine, as it was his error and he really doesn't want the hassle of threatening letters to the registered owner.
I have told him not to park in a disabled bay, it is really out of character for him which is why he will pay the penalty.0 -
No, No, No. Do not pay! It's not a fine it's an unenforceable invoice. By caving in he is lining the pockets of these scam artists. If he has a guilty conscience then tell him to pay the money to a charity and not to these sharks.
The so called "threatening" letters are no worse than the phishing emails he probably receives on a daily basis, does he send them money as well? I doubt it.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

Sorry but he is either mad, deluded, uninformed (did you show him the links we gave?) or you are a PPC employee?
No-one in their right mind pays these scams - it is NOT a PENALTY nor a fine!!

The advice in the article on mse is, if you've broken the rules, and the ticket isn't exorbitant, then pay.
What I don't understand is if this company is scamming people at large retail parks etc, how are they allowed to get away with it.0 -

So what "rules" do you think have been broken? Parking in a disabled bay? Don't forget that the blue badge scheme does not apply to private car-parks. So this is a made -up rule by the parking company. The money demanded is exorbitant becuase under civil law the land owner can only claim for actual material loss suffered. As this was a free car-park that loss is a big fat zero. Anything above that would be considered an unfair penalty in law.
Please stop taking these clowns seriously. They are not the police or the council. they are just a bunch of private citizens with no more power than you or I to demand money off another private citizen.
The reason they "get away with it" is that too many people fall for their official looking but meaningless letters and pay up without question. This is why this and other forums try and educate people into the true facts of the private parking "industry". We want these scam artists to go away and the only way that will happen is if enough people realise the truth and don't pay them. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
