London Parking Help - Liverpool Street area
Guys,
I am looking for your help.
I have 4 kids and and a rock chick for a wife. I had booked tickets for Iron Maiden at Earl's Court (23rd Dec) for my wife's Birthday in July. We are also taking our two eldest rugrats (14 and 12yrs - Nice start to the christmas festivities).
Travel plans are in place, we are driving down from central Scotland on the Sat 23rd morning. Booking in to Travelodge Liverpool Street asap when we arrive around 12/1pm. Going to the concert, then leaving to go back home early on the Sunday 24th.
I am looking for advice on where would be the best place to park - Since it will be probably the busiest day ever in London i'll probably need to pre-book or any other ideas would be considered. I don't want to spoil the day because of parking.
Thanks guys any advice will be appreciated.
Jake

The Liverpool area is in the City, which will be dead-virtually nobody lives
there and most businesses will have closed till the New Year. I expect there
will be a long term car park near the hotel and whilst they won't be cheap
[a days parking would probably buy you a but an ben on the Gargunnocks]
it is so much cheaper than getting a fine. You will also be outside the Congestion Area.
Once you have your parking spot, just keep the car there and use the tube.
If you buy two adult all day tickets [c £5 off peak each] you can travel anywhere on the tube for free and the kids are always free off peak. The tubes run
till well after midnight, so you'd be better using that than your car. Even to
go to Earls Court by tube. Then you will be in no danger of going through the Congestion Area and there, parking nearby may well be difficult.
You can park on the street overnight-just make sure that where you park has
no restrictions on the Sunday.
I hope you enjoy your trip.
Are you sharing the driving since that's around 900 miles of a round trip with a very early start by the sound of it.0 -
The travellodge site mentions that there is a NCP behind the hotel and another 5 mins away. No mention of price though. There is another thread about Sunday parking for £5, so you might save a bit by moving your car on Sun morning. Bit late now, but If you had booked one of the lodges around Kings cross, they have parking for £15 per 24 hours.0

Thanks for this - although I don't have much of a clue about what you are talking about with the Gargunnocks thingy !!
You'd probably get2 for that :rotfl:
If I get a parking space, i'll be keeping the car there until the Sunday & I'm expecting it to be around the £30 cost (steep, I know, but what other options are there !)
Unfortunately I'm driving myself so I am stocking up on Red Bull !!
Thanks again

I'll try this NCP car park but the NCP opening hours are limited (min Sat and no Sunday opening). I don't know if they'll open specially for pre-xmas weekend (hope so), but NCP are not answering their emails !!
Thanks for this....JStay happy & enjoy yourself - no matter what !0 -
NCP have one in Finsbury Square that is open weekends and £5.20 per hour.
I am not sure where your hotel is exactly, but it looks like a ten minute walk at the most.0 -
I was going to mention Finsbury Square; if the Travelodge is the one which has just been built on the corner of City Road and Tabernacle Street, it's a 2 minute walk to the underground NCP underneath the bowling green, halfway between Moorgate and Old Street on the Northern line, and 5 minutes from Liverpool Street station itself.Touch my food ... Hi, The City of London local authority provides a number of affordable car parks in around the Liverpool street area
http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/Corporation/our_services/highways_transport/parking+and+traffic/carparks.htm
If you are not sure how far the car parks are from your hotel, then just do a quick street search through streetmap http://www.streetmap.co.uk/
Or better still give them (city of london) a call and ask wheres the best place to park..since they govern the Liverpool street area. 020 7606 3030
Hope that helps0 -

Don't know if you are familiar at all with London? I assume you are coming
down the M6 from Scotland. If so, have you considered coming down the
M40 from Birmingham? It brings you much closer to the centre of London
that the M1 and it [the A40M] changes to the A501 at the start of the Marylebone Road. It is then a straight road to The City Road [still the A501]
where I believe your hotel is situated.
So not only is it an easier route through London, scenically it is much more
interesting than the M1 from Birmingham. [Keep an eye out for the red kites
flying around the Oxford /High Wycombe area-that's the feathered variety btw].0 -
This might seem a bit odd, but the Kings X lodge has a double room for £26 on Dec 23 with parking for £15. It might not work out much more expensive than paying for an NCP. You would get more space as well.0
