Being charged for Broadband by Sky and BT???

I was wondering if anyone can help. My mum has just discovered that she has been paying for Broadband with Sky and BT for the last 2 year's. She has said that she never signed up for Sky broadband - she was offered the option a couple of years ago on a call with Sky but she declined.
How can 2 company's both charge for Broadband? Surely there must be a record of her official broadband provider somewhere? How should she take this forward?
My mum is quite old and not the most confident or computer literate person i.e. she tends to get confused when people throw lots of technological terms around. As such she is having a bit of a nightmare trying to get her point across. In fact she can't even seem to get hold of anyone in BT.
I have tried to talk to people on her behalf but the data protection laws are becoming a barrier to my taking her complaint forward.
Should she refer the complain to Ofcom?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Mish Mash
This does seem strange indeed, I can gladly check from my side to make sure we are your current broadband supplier and that you are being billed correctly. If you check out my profile section you will find my contact info, if you send over your mothers details I will gladly look into this.

How did Sky get the payment from her for 2 years if she didn't sign up?-she must have supplied her bank details to set up a DD.
As long as you have the Sky password/PIN then you should be able to access the account info.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks David. I will pass my mum's details on at the weekend when I next see her.
MacMan - my mum has had sky tv since the 90's so the direct debit has been in place for some time. A couple of year's ago she had a new sky box installed in another room. I can only assume that this has some bearing on events but am totally baffled at how she has ended up in this situation.0 -
Are you absolutely sure that she is being charged for Sky internet??? Have you seen the detailed invoice breakdown??
She should be being charged for multiroom (~ £10 pm extra) and both boxes should be connected to the same phone line to prevent Sky charging two full subscriptions.0 -
And if she is living alone, does she really need Multiroom (if this is what she is being billed for)?No free lunch, and no free laptop0
