I'd try and mix something like that. Maybe pick up a reduced wrapping paper or the cheapest they have to make it look good as if it was for a pressie. Although it should be none of their business if you bought it on its on, going by other DTD conversations on here it could be classed as fraud and at the managers discression you won't get DTD.

How can you class this as fraud .You are paying for the goods you have then been overcharged so you are following Tescos policy regarding dtd .What part of this is fraud.

I read in on one of these threads where the poster was accused of targetting a glitch to get DTD. I'll see if I can find it.

I know when I found a misprice a few weeks ago, I asked the girl if I could go and grab a few more before they changed the labels. She said if you knowingly do this you are trying to defraud Tesco. Now she was being very nice and did let me grab a couple more as I'd explained I purchased what I could afford but the DTD would allow me to buy some more and she relented.

I personally couldn't care less. If at first you don't succeed there's always another Tesco around the corner who you may have more luck with.

i think it was this one by ANGELMALDV on the misprice thread

"Without going into the case exactly, it was the only thing I bought bar one other item. The store manger refused, the CS I phoned whilst in store said it was up to the SM. The CS I phoned on leaving the store said it was up to the store manager. Now 2 official responses from HO (CEO office ) have said the same. I'm waiting on official answers to a few obv. questions and I will let you all know.

I honestly thought it was policy, and always told people to phone CS and they'd sort it. I have no idea why my case was different and as such, will be taking up with ASA."

Just spent 10 mins trying to find that post.

For something as big a DTD as the Mega Bloks I'd be trying to hide it - preferably with 1p items or maybe with some coupons. My SA this evening was great. She asked where I got my coupons from and I told her. She said there was a place she got them ..... that Martin Lewis site!!!! My first non-trout :T

You should've just called, I'm here. From what I can see I think I'm probably the first of 2 people to get no result from CS, store, and ceo over a DTD.

Like I say, throughout many e-mails the official reason I was not given DTD was that I targeted the misprice. I suggest you buy other things and just happen to buy this.

I'm still waiting on official clarification that this is their policy as there is no wording saying "fair play" liek there was with the price match. Watch this space I guess.

I'm on here a lot at the moment spouting this but the main reason is because I don't want someone on limited budget to get this and be too embarrassed to ask for DTD and end up paying just the £15 (that's what I was offered with my glitch). Just tell them to stick it and go to your next Tesco.
I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

Often you'll need to quote the DTD policy and point to the blue sign, as CS trouts are notorious for "forgetting" that the policy exists.

Even after pointing it out, you can often be in for a whole host of ridiculous excuses as to why the policy doesn't apply to that transaction, so you have to really stick to your guns.

Does DTD apply if they have overcharged you on reduced items? I.E. the checkout person has "accidentally" scanned the wrong barcode instead of the reduced one (because the person putting the sticker on hasn't covered up the barcode properly)??

Yes, in as much as there is no wording on the policy to infer that this is not the case. However, with cautious tone, it is completely at the store's discretion.
