Glad I'm not the only one, never heard of this before but sounds good!! Do you actually need to quote DTD or do they just automatically give you a refund ?
Often you'll need to quote the DTD policy and point to the blue sign, as CS trouts are notorious for "forgetting" that the policy exists.
Even after pointing it out, you can often be in for a whole host of ridiculous excuses as to why the policy doesn't apply to that transaction, so you have to really stick to your guns.0 -
They have a policy that if you are overcharged, they will refund your money AND you keep the product as well.
**Note** I have previously noticed something very similar to this, and when I went to customer services, they tried to say it didn't count unless you had left the store, and gone home. I pointed out that if I did that instead of telling them, that they would have to refund a whole lot more people, and next time I would say nothing until the next time I was passing! They backed down quick smartStill looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???0 -

That is not the case any more. It is now Double the Difference. They give you back double the difference of the SEL price and the price that you where charged. E.g SEL has £5, you are charged £7, you will get DTD of £4 as you where overcharged by £2.0 -

I tried it with 3 lots of the stripy glasses and twice I was given back DTD without asking and the 3rd time I had to politely remind the SA, i did buy one or two other items to look less suspicious, also avoided SS for this oneGRATITUDE WHEN GIVEN, PATIENCE WHEN DENIED

No it'll be:
Sticker £15
Charged £30
Therefore overcharged by £15, meaning you get double that back-DTD £30.
No worries, it takes a bit of getting your head round. Whatever you have been overcharged by get's doubled.0 -

The policy you're referring to is the old Refund and Retain policy, where if the price on the shelf for an iron was £13.97 and you paid £13.99, you got £13.99 back and the iron to keep.
Tesco updated it to double the difference a while back. Where if the shelf or sticker price is, say, £15 and you pay £30 at the till, Tesco will give you 2 x £15 back...as £30 - £15 is £15.
A better example is shelf price of £25, you pay £75 at the till, Tesco will give you £100 back.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
