Moving from E.ON FOL8 -> EDF Fixed Saver v2

I'm looking to move from E.ON to EDF's Fixed-saver V2 when the FOL8 expires on the 1st July (Me + ten thousand others, I suspect!)
Just wondering when to start the process so that the change over happens just after 1st July, but definitely NOT before it?
Had a chat with EDF (V.Helpful, BTW) who said that the process can take up to an "industry standard 8 weeks" but might happen much faster. They have a 10-day "cooling-off" period before they contact E.ON.

Also worried about the EDF fixed plan getting withdrawn as all the refugees from E.ON pile on to it.
Was thinking of applying around the middle of June.
What d'you think?

I've put a note in my diary to start the switch 17th June from FOL v8, 14 days before end point- others have already switched/started to switch accepting that they may lose discount or get a penalty for leaving early vs the risk that the plans they want to move to, won't be available later. Its all a gamble!!

Good - I was about to ask exactly the same question - was thinking of going to Eon age UK price protection (is this open to all?) for gas and npower go fix 6 for electric. Any quidco/top cash back on either of these?

There is also soem stuff from Eon about not getting the discount (20% for fol8) on your final bill? Surely this is unfair if you have completed your fixed rate period?
    I think....

Loads of previous posts about this.....the EON rep has confirmed that you WILL receive all the applicable discounts for FOL v8 IF the switch happens post July 1st;Also since EON will move you to the standard online tariff you will not get "fined" £30 for leaving EON.

I'm in the same position. I was considering going via Energyhelpline as you can choose to hold your switch until your current contract ends; but I've just read the small print, and this just means they delay processing the switch until that date, by which time the new tariff may no longer be available (in which case they cancel the application)...

I am having the same thoughts.

My view is close of play Friday.

Won't be processed till 13th earliest, 10 day cooling off, can't se it happening in just 7 days thereafter.

Make sure you read meter and ask for bill mid way through cooling off just in case.;)

I've gone ahead with a switch today 10 days earlier than planned because
    a) I suspect the long term EDF 2014 deal will be pulled fairly shortly b) EON are going to be inundated with transfers out so there is no way that my switch will happen before the end of FOLv8 (1/7)
& c) EDF have a cooling off period of 12 days anyway.
EON have not exactly covered themselves in glory today have they????

Oooh right, does that potentially delay the switch further? Also, do you know if you can you ask for a bill online, or do you have to phone up? (Apparently my next bill would otherwise be around 25th July)

Until they are formally advised by EDF (after the cooling off period) you can do it all on line.

No it won't delay it occurs within hours of you submitting reading and asking for a bill on line.

It just makes sure you get all your discounts up till that bill at least. Given the timing it is only really a bit of insurance would be surprised if the switch actually completed until after 1/7.

I read my meters on 6th June, submitted online and requested a bill. Got an email on the 7th to say my bill was ready to view online. My natural bill is due 24th June but I did this reading and request early as a preacautionary measure due to the fact that I requested a switch to EDF today via Moneysupermarket
    Awaiting a new sig
