insurance for driving test

  • Without getting into an argument about this, everything that was posted is from experience and correct. I know that some insurers actually want the name of the examiner conducting the test if the test is to be conducted in a private car. I couldn't give a monkey's whether or not pm takes his test with an instructor or not. As a member of this forum I would suggest that he checks with his driving test centre what they would require if he turned up in a private car rather than chance losing his fees.

As for insuring the car as a full licence holder or provisional holder it is generally more expensive for the provisional licence holder as the tuition vehicle will not have dual controls therefore cannot be stopped if the learner gets into difficulty.

And would you care to quote the name of this insurance company that has these non-standard rules.

Which is exactly what I said. Glad to see you agree with me.

I think that you will find that it is more expensive to add a newly qualified full licence holder to your insurance than an provisional licence holder, because the newly qualified full licence holder can drive unaccompanied.
