    at a bus stop?:rotfl:

it needs a fault code read for starters so you know where you are going, any garage should be able to do this for you from about £35 even if its a bat cave garage
this way you know whether you want to go back to seller with strong arm tactics or if it was just a blip in the life of the car because it swallowed a spider:)

Not his/her job to do that.I wouldnt pay a penny, its upto the selling dealer.Have a read of this-http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/your_world/consumer_affairs/buying_second_hand_vehicles.htm#what_action_can_you_take_against_a_dealer

Tickles me comments like this. Admittedly Alfa had build quality issues in the mid-90s (I know, I used to work at a Alfa dealership) but now they are no worse than most other manufacturers but hey ho.

MrsRM, can you give us a bit more info about the nature of the defect please?

This suggests that they are only more reliable than Land Rovers (and God knows that isn't much of an achievement) but, as the saying goes, hey ho.

    sorry cant read gobblede gook
as i say, before going in guns firing, have ammunition and £35 is a small price to pay for ammunition, your approach is i assume going in with shorts on spit the dog at your side and talking very loudly

trust me it wont work and you would end up getting your free assessment of the problem and 5 very juicy prawns behind your door panel
    enjoy......:)

Mmm, a common prob with the 159 was the vacuum regulator which allowed too much air into the inlet. Its not a wear and tear item and as such should be rectified at no cost to you. As suggested in post #2, your next step is to write to the dealer requesting that he investigates and rectifies the probem at no cost to you under the Sales Of Goods Act. Give him 7 days to respond and say after that you reserve the right to have the fault rectified and present them with the bill. Also send a copy to the finace co.
    PLEASE NOTE

Yes you do, the user name and hubby were the clues.;)

Haha, thank you LandyAndy! I think the reality is whatever cars we buy these days, they are rarely reliable! I can cope with faults and expected to pay up along the years, just not 8 weeks after purchase!

I'll ask my hubby to contact dealer, I never thought of that but I'll leave the technical talk to him, haha. It wasn't from a main dealer but my local Car people garage!
