  • Worth a formal complaint to the bank asking on what authority they made this deduction. Advise that a substantive answer is requested and ask for the procedures to complain to the banking ombudsman (they are required to respond on the that) - recorded delivery and keep a copy.

    If the response is satisfactory please share it - if not please also share it and complain to the banking ombudsman about the financial irregularity.

    I am about to switch from Barclays (don't ask!)to the co-op so am very interested in how this is dealt with. Feedback on Coop bank by PM welcomed.

    I deliberately keep my private life private. I can't think of many, if any occasions, when I've told people they spend too much on food. and yes, I do believe most people in towns/cities can live without a car. I always have myself.
