  • One direct are the SHITTEST, most INCOMPETENT, TIME CONSUMING, Money Grabbing insurance company EVER...!!!

My advice is stay well away.!!! They are absolute CRAP..!!!
I will NEVER insure my car with them ever again even I they were the last insurers on the planet and were offering it for free..!!!

I have 5 yrs no claims and found a decent quote from one direct, when I called the price I was quote magically increased due to the fact that I wanted to insure it that same week which although I wasn't chuffed about I accepted. I paid my insurance in full over the phone and they were more than happy to accept. Once my payment was accepted it went down hill rapidly. I sent in my no claims which I was told was insufficient and was asked to call to resolve the matter which I did. I was put on hold for over 30mins then was told all their lines are busy and some one would call me back low and behold no one called me back. In the subsequent weeks I received at least 5-8 letters of final reminders, emails and was asked to call. Which again I did. I spoke to a lady who assured me that if I send in the letter from my previous insurer it will be sorted. Again I obliged again a received an alarming amount of mail saying that my policy will be cancelled. Again I called again I was put on hold and told someone would call me back after I'd waited 30mins and ran up my bill. Someone did however call, I was at worked and asked to be called on my lunch which did not happen. This process has been repeated several times then once that was sorted they found another problem. I explained to them I was not driving for a yr hench the gap in my policy, this resulted in a number of letters hours on hold and unresolved insurance. I tried to cancel but was told I would loose the money I've paid on top of being charged to cancel. I literally just came off the phone with a lady whom assured me the files have been updated and I will receive no more final reminders after being on hold for only 10mins this time (yay) 😁 however I very much doubt it. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER...!!

    You have been warned
  • Just because they appear cheap, it doesn't mean they are. They make their money on excessive admin fees (£50 a pop), increasing your original quote and pure incompetence!

Like many others I chose to go with One Quote Direct because their quote was the cheapest, however, once you take into account admin fees, charges etc it's not worth it. Customer service is pretty poor too. I agree with other reviewers, it's worth paying more to insure with a reputable company without the hidden fees and aggravation!

It's worth complaining about the admin fees though because they refunded me £50 of £150 back - still I won't make the mistake of insuring through this broker again!
  • One Direct Car Insurance are an absolute disgrace, I'd go as far as to say that they are con-merchants.

I went with them via Confused.com as they were the cheapest. Big mistake. 3 or 4 days after the cooling off period (conveniently), I received a letter asking me to confirm that I was the owner of the car. I replied saying that it was a company car as I had stated when buying the insurance and as was confirmed on the certificate of insurance sent through by One Direct!

They replied saying that they couldn't insure me on a company car and were therefore cancelling my insurance and refunding HALF the premium, so in effect I'd paid £200 for 3 weeks cover. I complained until I was blue in the face and eventually they agreed to refund another £100 so in the end I've paid £100 for 3 weeks car insurance because of their mistake.

I'm absolute disgusted by this and I'll be complaining to Confused.com for having such a bunch of charlatans on their site and also to Allianz who underwrite these muppets.

DO NOT USE ONE QUOTE DIRECT

I've just insured with these and omg what a hassle. Had to send in documents via post! No clear instructions, called up got charged 11 pound for a change to my get on it, the purchase date of my car. Final reminder letters duplicates arriving before orginal request.

TBH I just felt the girl was used to complaints and it was water of a ducks back with no real concern for irratating the customer. It all felt like a que to catch you out.

I won't be renewing, in fact I've paid two months up front. I might let that run for 2 months and requote. I certainly won't renew, as now I'm worried if they are this bad to begin with.... well what if I do need to claim.

WISH I'd READ OTHERS EXPERIENCE & PAD 100 pound more for a decent company! I will next year... lesson learnt!
  • - I insured my car with them over the summer last year. When I sent my NCB, they replied pretty much 13 days later, after the purchase, to say, it shows a claim and therefore the premium is going up by £200. Now the claim was a windscreen change. There were a chip on the screen and MOT failed so I had to change it and paid the excess for it.
I refused to pay in the end, they take my deposit paid upfront (£120), they charged me for a cancellation fee against my will.
I have written several letters protesting without much success.
Therefore I'm taking them to court, just to make an example of them and no matter how much it is going to cost me.
If anyone wants to join me please get in touch.

Had very bad experiences with OneQuote - my partner unfortunately chose to insure her car with them. We had weekly letters stating to send "all information" otherwise they will cancel the policy - we sent lots of correspondence by email/post and they never would state if they had received our letters/emails.
We sent all the required information several times - but will still get these letters, it was almost like they refused to admit receipt of the info we had sent.
In the end they actually cancelled my partners insurance and left her high and dry without any insurance and now want to charge my partner a cancellation fee.
Fortunately I kept all the sent emails and phone logs and am now looking to take them to court to get our deposit and cancellation fee back. AVOID ONEQUOTE AT ALL COSTS:mad:

One Quote Direct are not to be trusted under any circumstances. Avoid them . Having moved house recently at the time my car was due to be insured, the new V05 hadn't arrived. Despite forwarding One Quote direct the email from DVLA proving that the document was forthcoming, one quote direct stated that they weren't going to wait, they cancelled my insurance and billed me for almost twice the time covered and stole a further £75 cancellation fee. Avoid One Quote direct, they have proven themselves to be untrustworthy.

wow, they sound like cowboys. Glad I read this, my renewal is due in the next few days and onequote direct has come up as one of the the cheapest without a "box" at £400. I phoned my insurance company hoping they would beat it as my renewal was £760 with admiral, they came down to £610. That's just over £200 difference. DO you think there's any chance Admiral would budge on their price or do you think it's worth £200 more to not go with one direct?

I saw somebody mention there policy was cancelled because of a windscreen claim, I had my windscreen replace earlier this year so I could fall foul to that tactic too.
  • Hi,

I recently insured with OneQuoteDirect and it has been an awful experience. Don't go anywhere near them.

I've now re-insured with my previous company: Hastings.

    Good luck!
