Texecom Veritas 8 Compact - Entry alarm sounding

Have set up a Texecom Veritas alarm system (wired).

All the walk testing, etc appears to be fine.

Am having trouble with entry zones. Have checked and double checked the zone specified in the programming menu for the correct zone for entry/exit.

Exit is fine, but on entry the alarm sounds as soon as the supposed 'entry/exit' zone is activated.

Have even tried changing the zone of entry/exit, with the same results occuring. It's like it's skipping any possible 'time delay' which the alarm should give you on entry to disable the alarm. The manual shows no such setting to alter the 'time delay'. So have no idea what to do next?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Just wondering if the door switch wiring loop and the tamper loop wiring are mixed up? On most alarms they trigger instantly if the tamper circuit is set off.

Presume your using magnetic reed switches? I would go over the wiring and the cores colour codes carefully and back at the panel.

Possibly a trapped damaged cable somewhere shorting one of the tamper lines to the alarm lines?

With a resistance meter on the ends of the cables from the door sensor then it will usually go from short to open when the door is opened. The tamper loop wires should remain short circuit. Shouldn't be any measurable ohm between the tamper wires and the alarm wires (if all disconnected from the panel)

    just a suggestion.

Is it possible that a zone that isn't set as entry/exit is activating when the door opens? Im thinking maybe a PIR on a landing/hallway/kitchen.

There are no door switches on this set up.

Just PIR's. The PIR set to entry is Zone 2, the default of Zone 1 has been disabled.

ALso the timing for entry has been set to 30 seconds.

This '30 second delay' does not happen, the alarm goes off as soon as the entry/Zone 2 PIR is activated.

    Thanks for your responses.

I've a Veritas 8Compact that I fitted. The default for zone 1 is entry/exit have you tried the PIR wired to that? It would be easier to use zone 1 and the default settings I would have thought. So you have zone 2 programmed as a zone type 6 then (entry/exit) using programming menu code 21? The time delay is shown in my installation manual on page 3 Full set entry time option code 33 , default 30secs ,page 24 describes the process of altering the time.
  • Hi,
I have just had a power cut and the internal alarm on the veritas 8 system sounded, this has never happened before when the power has been off, and it would not reset even though I put in the correct code.
After a while I got so sick of it, (and it was driving the dog mental:o)
so I just punched in random numbers for the fun of it, hence I must have hit the numbers that set off the panic alarm, and it then changed the pitch and alarm even louder inside and also externally as well... Oh my
Anyway, a little time later it all went silent!!!! and it stayed that way, the power came back on about 30 minutes later and it did not alarm again at that point.
Can someone tell me if there is a battery back up or something somewhere as there was a light on the reset box all the time and the sensors were all displaying a red light, I dont know much about this alarm as we inherited it with the house, and paperwork is a scrap of paper with a few pointers on from the last owner.
Also how could I silence it, if the above happens again, or silence altogether while I get it either serviced?? or updated.
Any advice would be gratefully received, and any extra info would be fab, as I have not a clue!!!
Ooh and does the alarm time its self out at some point, now I'm curious x

thankyou all xxxx Maddy red xx:D
