Hiya Tom... Welcome.. There are a lot of very helpful, good and honest people here and we are all here to help. Wether you simply want advice and we never see you again, or you become a regular and we all work through your problems together.. like they did with me.. there is a light at the end of the tunell.
I am only 30 (just !) lost a business, £130k in debt and had to go bankrupt.. so it isnt that bad where you are mate.. and there is worse than me !!
Post your SOA, you'll get plenty advice here mate.

In the end it IS only money - really not worth making yourself ill or suicidal over. You can't go to prison for debt (having said that, it's a good idea to keep your Council Tax up to date!). The very worst that can happen is that you'll go bankrupt, and loads of people here have gone through that and been able to make a freah start. As you are in negative equity this may the route for you, but you do need to take professional advice first. As eveyone else has said, post a statement of your affairs and you'll find a really friendly group of people willing to help. There is a deep well of common sense and bitter experience here.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

At the end of the day most of us have been there and it scares the hell out of you at first when you have to right all the amounts down!! And I'm only 27 even though at times in debt I felt more like 87 :Pale:
You need encouragement from someone all the time and be willing to show them everything to stop you slipping back down again.
There are several things you can start with:
Post your SOA to see just where you money is going
Start a spending diary to see where the odd bit of cash in your pocket goes!
Sort you belongings out and sell on ebay or at a car boot
I hope this helps and remember people are always here on the forums when you want some advice or just to vent some anger! hehe

Hi Tom
Welcome on board, you are in the right place for help and support.
Get posting your soa and people can start to see where they can help you.
There is a way out of the pit you have got yourself into, it isn't easy but can be done.
There are lots of people on the site who have started in a worse position than yourself and are getting back on their feet. Stick around and you will get some great support from folks on the board.

Hi Tom, the first step is often the hardest. You have made that step so things will progress from here. There is always someone on these boards who has been though whatever you are going through - both on an emotional and a practical level, so don't be afraid to post stuff on here. You will get very helpful responses.

You'll be fine with all the help on offer here - its great.
I recon the people here have saved me going on for £3000 since I joined up - most of that is in strengthening my willpower but also on things I thought I was savvy with like insurances and mobile phone contracts.

Tom, as Hypno says, taking the first step and facing up to the mess is the hardest bit. Congratulations that you've done this! Many people muddle on like this for years and years without ever changing their habits, and I reckon it's admirable that you've faced up to it NOW. Good on you!
Part of the reason you're feeling so bad about it all is perhaps fear of the uknown. Until you get your SOA done and go over your finances with a fine tooth comb and a microscope, you won't really know the full picture. Once you've actually got the full picture you can then devise a Plan.
Believe me, once you've got your Plan in place, you'll feel heaps better. It might not be a nice plan, but regaining control brings in itself a huge sense of achievement.
People on here can help you with the Grand Plan, so don't be afraid to post it like it truly is.
Go for it!0
