help please, somebody

I'm hoping this place is my saving grace before I totally give up and break down.

I'm 28, in roughly 55k of debt, in negative equity and have the worst credit rating imaginable. I'm also now in 2 mortgage arrears..

Our outgoings exceed our incomings. Things are just going from worst to, frankly, suicidle.

what the hell can I do?

Hi Tom, i'm new here but i have posted on forums like this in the past and found them to be a great help. Please do not feel like all is lost something can always be done.

I think the best thing to do is to post a SOA (statment of affairs) and then the more experienced members will look at this and offer some sound advice.

Calm down for a start. You are on the right path by posting on here. You have just had what is called "your light bulb moment" that means waking up to the idea that your life has got to change. Plenty of people have been where you are now they have coped and so can you.
  • Just wanted to say hi and welcome. Don't worry there is hope. At the end of the day there are steps you can take - but nothing at the end of the day is worth your happiness - it is only money at the end of the day.

Several charities can advise you for free
they are linked to at the top of this page and they
are CCCS and Payplan - also the CAB.

These will all give you advice for free. You may need to go bankrupt if the stress is causing you to feel so bad. Plenty of people on here have done it and could give you a fresh start.

Also a trip to the doctors mayb help to get some antidepressants to give you time to get back on your feet.

If you feel able to post more details about your income/ debts etc people can see what they can suggest. See Southern Scousers sticky on how to do an SOA.

Tom - you're definitely in the right place. It may look desperate but I am certain that once you have been here a while, got some advice from those who have been where you are now, and taken stock - things will seems much more manageable. Don't even think of suicide - at the end of the day it is not worth that no matter how bad it seems. It can and will get better.

People are going to need more details about your situation before they can help you. Work out your Statement of Affairs (SOA) - all your outgoings and incomings - and post them here.

You will feel better about it all soon. Even if the situation is bad - you are now taking control and that really does help.

Welcome to the forums! There is a lot of sound advice here, so sit down, have a cup of tea and take some deep breaths.

First thing is to work out exactly where you stand, by creating a statement of affairs (SoA). Be honest, add it all in both income and expenditure. Don't forget the annual bills and include them as a monthly expenditure so people can get the complete picture.

This site has hyperlinks to places like the CCCS which can help you sort everything out.

You've taken the first step, so well done. No more denial!

    Good luck

    Welcome

    heres a :coffee:

Ive been where you are, and its not pleasant. But you CAN crawl your way out of this, and you are in great company. Weve all been in the pits of it, but proactivity will get you out!

Your best bet is to do a SOA, and we can comment further then.

    Dont worry & chin up,
    Lynz
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

    Thankyou all for your replies.

Is that anyone else who has been in debt this bad on here, or god forbid, worse?

I work nights, so will compile an SOA tomorrow.

Much worse but it's only money. You have to sort out the wants from the needs. You will not die if you get rid of SKY TV or if you stop buying clothes for a while but you will save a few quid a month. It's all about getting your head right. You have to stop buying things you dont want to impress people you don't like.

Tom, well done for posting on here.
You are now on the road to recovery.
When is your next mortgage payment due? whilst i don't know what your other debts are, I think the mortgage is one of the priority debts that should be paid.

Have you bought any Christmas presents, if so, take whatever you can back. There will be more christmases, but for this year, debts are more important.
