I want a cheap 125 motorcycle, Chinese?

Looking for a very cheap 125 bike at the moment, people keep saying get a CG125 or a YBR125, but they're all £1000 or more. I've seen the odd CG for £600 - £700 but they're 20 years old and 30k miles on them!
So I see these adverts for Chinese bikes, Sanya and Sukida and other lesser known ones - £700 gets you a nice looking brand new commuter bike with 1 years warranty and no MOTs for 3 years - people still say I'd be better off on an old jap bike! I don't get it!!

Anyone on here any opinions or experience with Chinese bikes?

Got loads of parts from there when I had a Yiben scooter - send them pics and they match the part.

I know it'll be worth 15p when I sell it, but if it's half the price of the jap bike I would buy now that I would sell for half of it's price in 2 years time, what's the difference?

chinese bikes are junk, every time you ride one bits will break or fall off,i had a gy125 lovely looking bike but cheap plastics and the frame was made from toffee, every part was made so cheaply you never knew if it was either going to snap in half or break down.you should be able to pick up a tw125 for about £700,i'd go for that

I've looked at Chinese bikes and scooters and thought what a bargain, after all in the pictures they're dead shiney. Then when i came on Mse and saw all the threads saying what they were really like i changed my mind.
tbourner you're the first person i've heard to give them a good word.

How long you planning on keeping it? If it's for any length of time get a Japanese bike, if it's only for a short period... get a Japanese bike.

Chinese bikes are hateful little things.

Go and have a look at some 2nd hand chinese bikes, I bet they will be 6months old and lost half their value, starting to rust, faded plastic etc

If you buy a good quality 2nd hand bike at market value now, so long as you keep it in condition, in a years time it will be worth almost the same

Do a search and you will soon find many tales of dodgy Chinese bikes with worthless warranties. Good luck!
