My cats been shot !

Stroking my cat this afternoon and found a lump on her back, I had a poke about and she has a graze with a hole and a couple of inches along her back, over her hip is the painful lump, you can feel the pellet in there.
Took her to the vet and she's had an antibiotic injection and just has to be left until she goes to be spayed, then she can have it cut out too.
The vet reckons it was a head shot that missed, fortunatly !!,
I am so angry! as shes black and white ands so obviously not a rabbit ! so this was done on purpose.
She has 3 x2week old kittens that i would have had to hand rear if she'd been killed,
She is a stray that just turned up 10 weeks ago and moved in despite us having 4 dogs and a cat already.
how can people be so cruel !

Thats horrible !! I hate cat haters. I don't have cats, But I certainly would not harm one. Nasty disgusting people!
I have a client I go too, and her neighbour makes us giggle, he walks his cats on a lead, and will not let them out on their own. they have a special run in his garden which stops them from getting out.. Because he lost a few cat's in the past to sick people!!
Wish her well xx0 -
where is the roll eye smiley when you want it!
you have no positive contribution so zip it!
While Bo Niddle could have phrased it better his comment has merit. The OP knows that the cat wanders in a locality where someone has a gun and is willing to shoot animals. The only genuine way she has of making sure this never happens again is to not let the cat wander. That may not be the choice she wants to make but the fact is there are huge amount of people out there who have their reasons for not wanting cats, which they see as vermin, on their land. And a reasonably large number of those people, especially in rural locations, are willing to shoot them as it is legal to shoot feral cats in the UK. Just google "shoot" + "feral" + "cats" on pages from the UK, there are tonnes of threads of people discussing their desire to, or habit of, shooting cats on their land.0 -
Hey there....oh my god I can't believe somone shot your cat that's disgusting!! For those people who discuss on here their desire to or their habit to shot cats then you need shooting yourselves!! Get a life so what if a cat is on your land...big deal...you can scare them off without the need to shoot them!! That cat could easily be a pet to someone...just because a cat doesn't have a collar doesn't mean it's not a pet...my cat is notorious for wriggling out of his collar....i've spent so much money getting him collars which end up lost somewhere on his travels....Crazy people who enjoy shooting a cat for fun should have their guns taken off them as that's what they are CRAZY!!!!A lot of fellows nowadays have a B.A., M.D., or Ph.D. Unfortunately, they don't have a J.O.B."0

we live on the edge of a small village, the last row of houses surrounded by fields, owned by friends of ours, so Gracie i do not let my cat wander into places where someone is known to shoot cats ! my other cat has lived and wandered around here for the last 6 yrs with no problems.0

I didn't say you did, I meant you know it now not that you did previous to this. You do know now that your cat has been wandering somewhere that someone has shot it, from here on out the only way to know 100% that it won't happen again is to keep the cat from wandering.mazy_m wrote:For those people who discuss on here their desire to or their habit to shot cats then you need shooting yourselves!
That would be not a single person on this thread then. Perhaps before you hyperbolise and wish shootings on people you should revise your reading and comprehension skills. I said that there are lots of people out there who shoot cats and now that the OP knows there is at least one such person in her area, she should rethink the freedom she allows the cat as it's the only way to protect it. I never said cats should be shot, I advised the OP on her best way to stop it from ever happening again.0 -
I would really really love to know how you are supposed to keep a cat from "wandering" lol! Suggestions not involving killing or maiming?
Cats are wanderers... they cannot be restrained, they are free creatures... and there is no reason to restrain them either. Unlike some dogs that wander free - they are not a danger to members of the public.BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -

There are thousands upon thousands of indoor only cats or cats that only have access to runs. Indoor cats have an average lifespan of 25 years, outdoor cats have an average lifespan of 5 years. It's not safe for cats to wander. It cuts an average of 80% off their lifespan.
And newsflash, dogs are every bit as much natural wanderers as cats. Yet when they had to be kept in unless they were under supervision, everybody managed just fine. Despite a bunch of people who didn't want to take 100% responsibility for their animals making all of the same complaints that wandering cat owners make.
As for cats not being a danger to members of the public, they are a danger to avian livestock, certain pets and bacteria in their excrement causes miscarriages in many mammals, including humans.0 -

If you used your far superior reading and comprehension skills properly, then you would have noticed that I never once alluded to or in fact said that you agreed that cats should be shot. In reference to the fact you raised not a single person on this thread would do such a thing now you just don't know either way do you? Or do you presume to know what everyone who could possibly read or add to this is thinking, had thought or ever will think or in fact has done or would do.
I wouldn't see it as a bad thing you giving the OP some advice as to how to prevent it from happening again in. That's within your rights and it's nice of you...but i'm also allowed to state my beliefs and I do believe that people who toture and shoot animals FOR FUN should be shot themselves!! If you don't agree fair enough it's my opinion. I'm not naive enough to presume that everyone will agree with me.A lot of fellows nowadays have a B.A., M.D., or Ph.D. Unfortunately, they don't have a J.O.B."0 -

Poor cat - but at least it is not as serious as it might have been which is a positive. From what you say about the area you live, let's hope it was an accident/mistake and not someone being malicious. She's obviously a lucky kit to have found you and moved in.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
