I have received a letter today from Cardiff Pinnacle Liaison Office asking me to sign paperwork so they may address my concerns regarding the sale properley of the policy.
My complaint has been with FOS for nearly 2 years and this is only first time since my original correspondence that Cardiff Pinnacle have corresponded.
Can l see any light at end of tunnel or do you think they are just responding to procedure as they have heard from FOS.
    Any help would be appreciated

Hi, i have received the same letter today! I am a bit unsure of sending them anything without checking with the FOS first, (claim is with them) How did you go on?
  • Hi, I too have recently received the same letter. It contains a letter of authority which cardif pinnacle are asking me to sign which authorises them to obtain any confidential information from any third party.
I am really concerned around what this would allow cardiff pinnacle to get access to.
I've been trying to get hold of the liason office from the company with no joy today. Has anyone managed to get through to them or received any advice from the FOS?

Hi, yes thats the exact same letter I have received, I think a call to the FOS is needed to check this out with them first before doing anything else!
  • I have been trying to get through to both FOS & Cardif Pinnacle but lines engaged all day. Will try again Monday. In the meantime would be good to hear if others have received advice from FOS.

They need you to give authority for them to get details of the PPI from the loan company, they need to know if the loan was settled early, if any rebate of the PPI was given and if you cancelled the PPI at any time, it looks to me like they are considering a claim!! as they need all the info and are not just fobbing off.
  • Thanks for the reply. As i said my only concern was the fact that the authority they are seeking is for any confidential information and doesn't stipulate that it is just in relation to the loan company concerned.

Hopefully they will be considering the claim properly not just paying lip service to FOS. Let's wait and see where this ends.

If you do not give the permission and they were considering refunding, they cannot refund correctly, or at all.
This can only delay any claim that may be paid out.

I am going to contact FOS tomorrow and l do believe must have been some sort descision made at Cardiff Pinnacle for so many of us to get letters for authorisation.
Hopefully right outcome for all of us
  • I'd be extremely interested to hear what FOS say now as the last time I spoke with them they were intending to use the matter of whether insurance companies had responsibility for sale as a test case with courts.
